I forgot one thing that mitigated the tape. Namely, that a lot of people already felt like they knew Trump. They’d watched him on The Apprentice. They hadn’t seen a flirtatious, hound dog type; they’d seen a consumate professional. So when the press tried to tell them Trump was just the opposite, it was a hard sell.

I would agree with you on the Billy Bush tape. It was a bridge too far in the relentless media assault against Trump. By that time, Trump supporters were numbed by the constant attacks and had already determined that they would support Trump no matter what. There does come a point where people just stop listening.

Speaking for myself, there was no way I was changing my vote that weekend. But I did get dispirited coming here to Free Republic and seeing so many Freepers declaring that it was all over. Then I saw a thread here that even Mike Pence was jumping ship (later determined to be a false report) and that's about when I closed my laptop and decided to tune out for while. My wife took pity upon me and found me that Octoberfest event. That definitely helped to take my mind off politics.
