Any lack of personal responsibility is at the core. I have no sympathy for the drug addicts, alcoholics, and the degenerates in general.

Most don’t care, to their own hurt, but once they step into the drug scene, even once, they’ve stepped into the loop that will in the end take everything form them including their life.

Dealers entire goal is to initiate users to the next high and is often without the users awareness. Then they own them.

How nice for you that you have never had your life devastated by substance abuse. If you can’t have sympathy for the addict maybe you could have some feeling for the heartache and chaos it causes those who love them and the cost to all of us as a society

There has been sympathy because so many of these people who are hopeless drug addicts got started with prescription pain-killers and mind altering substances. Awhile ago, it was thought around here that Narcan would be the solution. Overall, it has made the problem worse. The combination of sympathy, the availability of a "save" making people more bold about use, and so many freebies for people who can't function have just made things worse.

The more you do for people, the less they do for themselves. Gosh, I hate the deaths. But you know what? First, charge doctors who get people hooked on pain killers and mind-altering meds with negligent homicide. In addition to that, apply "tough love". We'll help people who help themselves.

You would have a different t opinion if someone you love has a drug addiction. I wish for drug addicts to get sober, not death.

I had an acquaintance who was an alcoholic.

She SWORE up and down that she wasn't and that she could control her drinking.

And everyone knew the true.

I returned a phone call one night and she was drunker than a skunk and didn't even remember the next day that she had talked to me.

I finally read her the riot act and told her flat out that she was an alcoholic and could not control her drinking and it was destroying her.

It did eventually. I'm convinced that was her cause of death even though the coroner had a different one listed.

She was in such denial that I lost all sympathy for her and would not help her any more. Since she wasn't interested in helping herself, I wasn't going to waste my time trying either.
