He was standing a few feet away and saw the whole thing. As I recall he just shook his head. Of course this was all part of a much larger, decades long, problem.
I just mentioned it because I was so effected by how fast it happened. How had I been asked minutes earlier I would have responded I would never strike a woman. I guess I remained true to that because I never “decided” to do it.
I have been in self defense training over the years and one thing Ayoob said sticks with me. One must train to respond because we don’t rise to the occasion. As much as I endorse that philosophy, I have to admit, at least on that occasion, I did “rise to the occasion” but I would never count on it.
