I had a professor this semester who is a community organizer from Chicago (I kid you not). He was utterly worthless, I am one of a number of students who reported him for being worthless, and he hates me (because he always did and) because the administration has evidently cracked down on him.
He holds a chokehold over EVERY student in my discipline, since every student will have to take this ONE professor for one worthless (waste of money), but required course.
What do I do? This is so wrong. So very very heinously wrong. He is so worthless, and so transparently partisan, yet he gets to pick winners and losers, and I am going into debt for this degree!
This is a Republican area. With a Republican alumnus base, and a Republican legislature. I am in absolute despair and am utterly depressed. Please give me advice.
I’m a first semester Sophomore taking Junior courses, so I have a little bit of time to play with. It is an accredited college, and the hardest one to get into in the area. I’ve had a lot of other offers from other colleges, but I have family responsibilites keeping me here.
Just play his game until you get through his course.Other than the World is not fair and the good guys don’t always run things, hopefully you also learned not to insult the alligator until you are out of the swamp. Good luck. Once you are through his courses, you can give him the finger every day. However, until you complete his courses, you have to play his game. under his rules. You can do it.
It’s not lying. It’s telling the professor what they want to hear. School is for getting certificates of completion, do the work, feed the BS machine, get the certificate, move on. If you need to say up is down to get the certificate who cares, it’s not a lie, it’s filling out the paperwork. It’s a lie if you actually expect people to believe it, if it’s just the answer they want to hear it’s fulfilling expectations,
OK I missed this, sorry. So is a bunch of SJW stuff being presented as literature, or what? And if it is, do you have to believe in the SJW stuff or just understand how it uses the language?
There might be some way around the problem, if not utterly gratifying to the prof, that doesn’t require dropping a bomb right here or now.
Thanks buddy
When you get into the real world you'll have to placate equally reprehensible bosses and clients from time to time. Just consider your professor as training for that.
If the professor wants to hear lies, it’s lying.
“No, Im in line for at least a B”
Then keep quiet and finish the class. 10 years from now nobody will give a hill of beans. Unfortunately the left has owned academia since the 70s, and you aren’t going to change that. Get on with your life.
No, it’s beating the drum to the expected beat.
If it’s the music of lies, it is lying.
That’s got to be tough. My advice would be to just hang in there and tough it out. It will be over before you know it and you can look back on it and not feel too bad for the poor suckers that will come across this “professor” on their journey...
Can I ask what field of study you are pursuing?
No. It’s something actually useful. I’ve got to go pick up someone and take them home. So I’ll be out of here for a bit, but thanks.
One CAN choose a different school. The one that is “rated the best” might reflect a rating that is partly based on a past that wasn’t so bad, and partly based on faddism.
Be careful what is sacrificed for the sheepskin.
English
Also, after you graduate and they ask for alumni donations tell them to KYA.
I don't even know what that means. No matter. I don't think your rigid standard is wrong, and I understand the pitfalls of situational ethics. Just that I'd feel no more remorse out of misrepresenting myself to an ass professor than I do about misrepresenting my birthday and place of living on facebook, or misrepresenting my personal point of view in a post here. All of those actions are literally academic.
Make sure, beforehand, that the academic credit is transferable and will fulfill the degree requirement.
Since you’re studying advanced, you still have some time to adjust your educational approach.
Another school, even one with a “lesser reputation,” may actually be the better school before God.
It might be like eating catfish. If you can pick the bones out, you can still live on the meat. Only you know all the details about that. There’s a secular adage that revenge is best served cold. Sometimes I have tried to get it served up hot and that doesn’t work well.
Nope. It’s playing a part. Actors say things that are untrue all the time, because that’s the job. In school you are an actor, the role is: Student, the script is whatever the professor says. When the play is done go back to reality where all that was hokum. The actress playing Juliet doesn’t have to like Romeo, but when the lights are on she does have to say she loves him. The student doesn’t have to believe any of the SJW crap, but when the paper gets handed in...
OK, so what happened, did I get you in a corner? Apparently so.
I’ll be merciful and say you have choices. And consequences. I’m rediscovering the merits of integrity. So what if I used to cheat and lie, and still don’t get it perfect. That problem is why God chooses to forgive the repentant.
