The White House is batting down reports that the Trump administration had planned to scuttle one of Michelle Obamas signature initiatives.
Hours after CNN reported on an internal Peace Corps email that announced a plan to stop supporting the former first ladys Let Girls Learn program, a White House spokesman said there had been no changes to the initiative.
The cable networks CNN Films division, which celebrated Obamas work to improve educational opportunities for girls in developing countries in a documentary last year, reported that Sheila Crowley, acting director of the Peace Corps, sent an email to employees this week shutting down the education campaign.
Moving forward, we will not continue to use the Let Girls Learn brand or maintain a stand-alone program, Crowley wrote in a message obtained by CNN. The Peace Corps, which had played a key role in promoting the first ladys initiative, will continue its work to support girls education but it is unclear whether Michelle Obamas branding will remain a central focus.

It needs to be shut down!
LOSING!!
How about an Apostrophe Education Program for headline writers?
how did that program work in Iran? I sure Valerie Jarrett’s home town was a huge supporter of that effort.
Do they need’s it?
Hmmm- I thought sure the left would embrace trump shutting down learnin for girls since the left loves islam so much
5 US Code 3110 ‘Nepotism’
Ivanka must have got to her old man and got his mind right.
There’s a reason it is illegal for presidents to put family members on their staff.
Why doesn’t Michele O with all her millions fund it herself, as Oprah has done? The GOP should not give away tax money confiscated from the dwindling Middle Class.
The Acting Director of the Peace Corpse is an Obama Democrat. She probably sent this out to harm Trump.
“Sheila Crowley: I grew up in a household of Massachusetts Catholic Democrats, Kennedy-lover types. My mother was, in her own way, very supportive of the civil rights movement and taught us all about that”
Statement by National Low Income Housing Coalition President and CEO Sheila Crowley on Senate Republicans Blocking Representative Watt’s Confirmation as FHFA Director
Today, a minority of U.S. Senators prevented the full Senate from voting on the nomination of Representative Mel Watt (D-NC) to be the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency. Once again, the threat of a filibuster by Republicans has prevented an up or down vote in the Senate on a matter of great national importance. Because Mr. Watts nomination was not allowed to go forward, an acting director will remain in charge of this vital federal agency.

It’s probably a FGM program.
He should shut it down.
It’s money we don’t have.
That’s technically a grammatically correct headline, yet still manages to be a crappy headline.
Ditto
The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), a U.S. government foreign aid agency, announced during her visit the allocation of $100 million to be spent on 100,000 Moroccan students, half of whom will be teenage girls.
The funds come from $450 million given by the MCC last year to boost education and employablity in Morocco.
I don’t know much about the program, but I do know that having a man shut down a program for girls looks bad.
And even worse, it would be shutting down an initiative from the former First Lady.
Perhaps Ivanka could get involved in some way? It would be fantastic. JMHO.
It would bring Obama voters over to Trump, possibly, and show that President Trump is the president of everyone and that he holds no grudges
Okay, tired; going to sleep. Just a thought
It looks to me like the director of the Peace Corps is the driving factor here, not anything that Trump has done. And the article says she is rebranding the program, not discontinuing it.
I would have written it so that two possessives were not next to each other.
It’s just a level of chess that we can’t possibly understand.
