She writes, "The persistence of these names—let’s at least call them ‘questionable’—on the American restaurant menu underscores how non-Asian-Americans have been making up their own version of Asianness for a long time now."

This use of "Oriental" and "Asian" is rooted in the wide-ranging, "all look same" stereotypes of Asian culture that most people don’t really perceive as being racist. It creates a kind of blind spot.

This is amusing but technically, she’s right. Keep in mind that Russia, Iran, India and Israel are all Asian countries. Even if McDonalds called this “Chinese” salad, they’d still be dealing with dozens of cultural varieties within China.
If this woman doesn’t want to end up in the insane asylum, she should just chalk this up as vapid marketing. Instead, she writes an article that is a pathetically serious version of David Chappelle’s comedy routine about how its racist that green olives being in a glass jar while black olives are in a can.

I was hurt brutally when I had to buy some American cheese, Virginia Ham, and white bread for sandwiches. All I could think was how disgusting it is to have to demean the innocent residents of Sandwich, Kent, England. Poor sweet dears. Where can I send reparations?

The only appropriate responses to this sort of nonsense are:
1) laughter, and
2) celebration of the writer’s freedom of expression.
Why encourage such nonsense? Because whenever the progressive movement thinks it should express what they believe openly, it loses. Because sane non-progressives then have an opportunity to see progressives for what they really are, i.e. insane.
