The Arrogance of Blue America
The Daily Beast ^ | 5/1/17 | Kotkin

If you want to see the worst impacts of blue policies, go to those red regions—like upstate New York or inland California—in states they control.

The fondest hope among the blue bourgeoise lies with the demographic eclipse of their red-state foes. Some clearly hope that the less-educated “dying white America,“ already suffering shorter lifespans, in part due to alcoholism and opioid abuse, is destined to fade from the scene. Then the blue lords can take over a country with which they can identify without embarrassment.

If you want to see worst impacts of blue policies, go to those red regions—like upstate New York—controlled by the blue bourgeoise. Backwaters like these tend to be treated at best as a recreational colony that otherwise can depopulate, deindustrialize, and in general fall apart. In California, much of the poorer interior is being left to rot by policies imposed by a Bay Area regime hostile to suburban development, industrial growth, and large scale agriculture. Policies that boost energy prices 50 percent above neighboring states are more deeply felt in regions that compete with Texas or Arizona and are also far more dependent on air conditioning than affluent, temperate San Francisco or Malibu. Six of the 10 highest unemployment rates among the country’s metropolitan areas are in the state’s interior.

Where the social contract between the governed and those governing is broken, the governed need to withdraw their consent to be governed.

For someone who just arrived from Mars, “blue” means democrat, and “red” means Republican.

This article can be summed “just die already... white America!”

Bottom line “white” is a code term that equals Christian… and one who is Christian worships God FIRST, not the (un)Holy State. This reality explains why the destruction of the Christian faith is historically the primary goal of all totalitarian regimes... from Rome to Stalin, and now the “Blue Oligarchy”, that seeks to RULE not govern. Islam is favored by “Blue America” due to the fact that in Sharia, State and Mosque are ONE! ALL must bow and worship the Golden Calf of the Almighty State, and its’ select “Divine Dear Leaders”! We’ll be little more than human livestock... but they will “take care” of us!

Note: Red has always equaled Communism... the media claimed switched blue and red to try and change that negative perception... IMHO.

I think of Duterte. I wondered what it meant, his talk about killing drug dealers etc. and I thought it didn’t directly translate into something we could do. But dang it, killing of drug dealers with extreme prejudice is probably the only thing that can turn Chicago around at this point. And Baltimore. St. Louis too.

Arrogance? I'm more inclined to use “amorality”.

Demographic trends *do* seem to be working against the future of this country. With more and more types of “victimhood” being recognized and promoted...and these “victims” procreating at a much faster clip than respectable Americans...I'm *glad* that I'm far closer to the grave than to the cradle and deeply *ashamed* that it was *my* generation,The Boomers, that started this steep decline.

Democrats are worried sick conservatives might be able to stop the flood of illegals from third world hellholes.

They need illegals to destroy us...

Democrats see third world gang bangers and cheap labor as future democrat voters... people who will break the backs of traditional Americans. Democrats fear they won't have voters to take over without illegals being made citizens.

If I’ve got this right, the custom used to be that whenever election results were displayed, “Blue” was used to represent whichever party included the incumbent president, and red was used for the other major party. In 2000, the democrats were blue, because Bill Clinton was the incumbent president. However, the Blue versus Red theme ran so strong in that election, that the association of blue with democrats, and red with republicans became something that the media decided to just go with.

The government of California treats the central valley like crap. They wont build infrastructure badly needed. The droughts are man made from lack of it. Farmers are often ruined from lack of water, and they seem to want to drive them out by not doing anything to fix it.

My impression was it used to be red for democrats until they complained that it was a way to suggest they were communists and it got switched (since nobody associates the republicans with communist)

Pretty much correct.

I thought it was during one of the Reagan elections that the Red=Republican thing was solidified, but it turns out it was in the 2000 Bush v Gore struggle. Before that, the media would switch them arbitrarily, different not only per election but also per media outlet.

Written almost14 years ago, this book is still required reading Mexifornia: A State of Becoming by Victor Davis Hanson.

One of many points he makes is that the authorities leave the Mexicans alone and concentrate on the Americans as they are more able to pay the many fines that are imposed for "infractions".
