Why buy a $750 Acer laptop like a common peasant when you can buy similarly spec-d MacBook for $2500. And have the opportunity to upgrade to the latest model within 12 months.
Some of us buy Apple because it’ll still be going strong in ten years or more rather than being reduced to a useless pile of plastic and electronics in a few years’ time.
The style-conscious who have just got to have the latest and greatest from Apple are a boon to people like me, there are excellent refurbs for a great price due to their egos.
So, you don’t have to buy inferior, knock-off junk just to keep cost in line. You should try it sometime.
I have a MacBook I purchased in 2007 for $1500 that continues to run flawlessly. It serves my needs for a dependable portable. In 2010 I purchased a Fujitsu Lifebook to run Windows, similar characteristics, for $2400. It also runs flawlessly after 7 years.
Both manufacturers have come out with substantially improved models every year since. So what?
I don't see the point of your comment. So what if a manufacturer offers upgraded models? Nobody is holding a gun to your head to upgrade, if what you have suits your needs.
#5 I bought this ACER. It was about $550 with a i5 cpu.
I added a 1tb hard drive in the spare drive bay.
Add up to 32gb of ram. See images at link below.
