This Magnet is no Joke
I don't often write reviews, but for this.....I had to write one. The magnet was everything as described, but please realize this is not a toy. This magnet is uncontrollable within 6-12 inches of a solid metal surface. If you are looking to just buy a strong magnet to "play" around with, buy this with extreme caution. There would not be much noticeable bone left if your finger was caught between this magnet and another magnet/fridge. Again, the magnet was everything stated in the description but its strength is no joke.
Scary Strong
I'm kind of scared of this magnet. It's so strong that it will move nearby metal objects even when inside of its shipping box. The finish is very nice. The magnet is very strong.
This is a Serious Magnet
This is a serious magnet. It has made many dents on my fridge. Keep your fingers out of the way!
So Strong They're Dangerous
I bought two of these along with ten one-inch cube Rare Earth magnets because I need something darned strong for a serious hobby. Id seen a few of the comments on YouTube and read the warnings, but they didnt prepare me for using super magnets. I put these two together, SAFELY, which isnt a safe thing to do. I started with a wedge of wood, two inches thick on one end, then tapers to nothing over the ten-inch length. Id put one magnet on one side of the thick part of the wood, then slowly approached the wood with the other. It got away from me and slammed into the wood so hard Ill never to that again unless I use some kind of machine to control the attraction. Then I slid the two magnets along the wood until they reached the zero-thickness. This became hard to do because the squeezing forces were slightly sinking the magnets into the pine wood. As I walked through my kitchen to the back door, the magnets pulled me into the refrigerator. I was holding them in front of me, but they were eighteen inches from the refrigerator! Later when I came back, I thought I was being more careful, but not careful enough. These damn things sucked a cast iron frying pan off my stove and hit so hard the magnets could have shattered (theyre known to be brittle.) FORTUNATELY, my fingers were not at ground-zero of that collision because I was still tightly holding the wooden wedge. I have no doubt these could have broken bones. I am NOT making this up! I love these things, but they are not a toy whatsoever!
Like the Product
Like the product, although the paperwork that came with it left my mind spinning. The English print was anything but English. Not very pleased with the foreign spelling!
Very Powerful
Crazy powerful
Five Stars
Very strong, think safety first when handling this magnet
Yes it's fun to play with but I'm very disappointed
Not as strong as stated. Claims 280 lbs. of pull, not even close. I do not understand why people say in reviews "it's so strong it's dangerous" or "it attracted something from 12" away" bunch of BS. It has to be about 2 or 3 inches away before it will attract things. Yes It's fun to play with but I'm very disappointed. Just want to warn others before they buy it like I did, with expectations of something great. After reading reviews I was excited, only to be let down. This is my third magnet to buy and be disappointed. No bone crushing to worry about here. Just a fun TOY.
IMPORTANT NOTE!!!!!
NEVER PUT THIS ANYWHERE NEAR ANOTHER NEODYMIUM MAGNATE!!!! I was just testing is to see its strength from a distances and I was probably 1.5 feet away and the small magnet flew out of my hand and collided with this one, luckily it only chipped the small one but it did took me a good hour trying to separate them without the proper tools but overall is a great magnet!
Four Stars
Good magnet

Worth the money if your into magnets. very strong
Quality as stated in the ad
Fantastic, one may want to keep it in a sock since it can really stick to things.
Very strong, be careful
Extremely strong. Be very careful with these. Make sure NO sharp metal around. I did not and knife jumped from much further then I thought possible, ouch, stupid me, I know. I hear its brittle and I'm sure it is. All neo magnets are it seems. If not please let me know which aren't. Thanks much.
Great for experiments!
I am not sure why i bought this..I didn't have a special need for it or anything, i just really wanted it. It's incredibly strong (i was able to pick up a sledge hammer with the my hand sandwiched between the two). I also would forget i'm holding it and walk near metallic things that would fly to my hand or my hand would get sucked towards doorknobs that i am opening. I experimented rolling it across the floor and rolling smaller magnets at it and the smaller magnets broke (and the super magnet chipped). So beware, it is brittle. Also don't leave it near any electronics for too long...

This thing is strong!
Awesome!
This thing is crazy! I am using it with steel ball bearings to remove dents from brass instruments. Works well, could be dangerous if you are not careful. Wouldn't want to get my finger between this and some steel!
Kinda strong...meh
It's strong, yes, but I was expecting more for this price-point. Looks like you gotta go to McMaster or somewhere else more specialized to get a truly beefy magnet.
2 thumbs up !!
Awesome ! be careful....it's serious....don't recommend for anyone under 21.....it's legit....!!!

Very strong. BE CAREFUL!

Dimensions are accurate and this magnet is incredibly strong. Wouldn't want two of these coming together near an extremity.
It came near my 2" x 1" Super Strong Neodymium Disc Magnet and they
very powerful. It came near my 2" x 1" Super Strong Neodymium Disc Magnet and they became one
Muy bueno

Gross.
I always wanted my wife to crochet a big yarn plant hanger thingy I could put a round piece of glass in to hang my turntable from the ceiling.
Yamaha PX-3 weighs in around 25 pounds. Sorbothane is some awesome stuff. But magnetic levitation vibration isolation would be better.
The wear and tear on your vinyl records is worse than any vibration, isn’t it?
I used to go to great pains to isolate my turntable and record the very first play on a studio quality reel-to-reel.
I don’t know if it made a difference (much) but I could brag about it.
Right now I have a set of Bose 901’s I purchased USED on eBay for $400, and a CD player, and the sound is better than I ever dreamed of having back in 1975 to 1980 (when I lost interest).
I have my computer hooked up too, and one day when an antivirus message said “Warning, a virus has been detected” I nearly jumped 10 feet in the air because I was alone in the house and I thought someone was standing behind me saying that. (I forgot my stereo was even on)
A classic FReeper thread on being an audiophile, lol. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/3222531/posts?page=8
Anything under the first 20 or 30 plays on properly setup gear should render very nice R2R. If they are buried in the basement you may think about cashing in, they may be reaching maturity. Todays hipster market loves stuff like that.
I have actually only wore out two records due to playing them. KISS - Destroyer and Deep Purple - Machine Head. (Original Black Sabbath - Parinoia may require an adult beverage). Very high sentimental value.
Mostly just trying to eliminate heavy footed relatives from my wrath during the holiday season when Im showing off to my neighbors.
Best of luck keeping it level, though...and the wiring from the cartridge down the arm might be affected. Probably would add significantly to the weight of the needle on the vinyl.
