FULL TITLE: Killer who murdered a cheerleader and two others APOLOGIZES for his 'senseless' crimes and convulses on the execution gurney - as he becomes the last Arkansas inmate to be put to death before drug expires
A man put to death in Arkansas over the murder of a cheerleader and two others was left lurching and convulsing on the execution gurney before he died.
Kenneth Williams, 38, was given the lethal injection on Thursday after legal motions delayed the procedure for more than two hours.
The executed murderer was the fourth and final inmate to be put to death by the state in eight days.
Williams began 'coughing, convulsing, lurching, and jerking with sound' for about 20 seconds before his time of death at 11.09pm CT.
After the jerking, Williams breathed through his mouth and moaned or groaned once - during a consciousness check - until falling still seven minutes into the lethal injection.
The killer had asked for forgiveness in his final statement. Williams decided against having a last meal, and opted for a communion instead, according to a witness.
In his last words, Williams said: 'I was more than wrong; the crimes I perpetrated against you all was senseless.'
'I'm not the person that I was, but I have been transformed when I gave my life to Christ.'
Williams was serving a life sentence for the 1998 murder of 19-year-old student and cheerleader Dominique Hurd when he escaped the penitentiary on October 3, 1999 by hiding in a tank used to carry kitchen scraps.

It occurred to me years ago that once there, we may see our time here from a different perspective. “Oh, I only had to spend 19 years there, you poor thing you had to do 80!”
Today it occurs to me that there are going to be some unusual reintroduction. “Oh, I remember you now, you are one of the ones that raped and murdered me...”. Awkward...

No I would never make that request.
May he get whatever peace he deserves
He did nothing to grant forgiveness. There was no remorse or improved character. Just the usual oh now I’m gonna die I’m sorry. That don’t cut it
I don’t buy his death agony. I think he held his breath to put on a show

Did they play “WHOLE LOTTA Shakin’ goin on” by Jerry Lee Lewis?
I hope he is truly saved. He gave to Ceasar what is Caeser’s with his incarceration and death. If he truly repented and confessed and accepted Christ as his Savior, then may God indeed have mercy on his soul. You like to see those lost sheep back in the fold and those prodigal sons return home to the Father.
I know! None of us deserve it. I dont deserve to be saved any more than this evil murderer.
Even so bad as this man, God joyfully gives him an equal chance to repent his sins. Is it any wonder we can’t wait to meet Christ. Being immersed in that overwhelming love will be like nothing we have ever felt before. Not even close.
Lord, I am not worthy to be in your presence. Only say the word and my soul shall be healed.
“... hope for his sake his apology was sincere...”
As do I, Morgana. I try not to wish hell on anyone.. and truly hope he is sorry before he met the Lord.
so did he die 20 seconds after jerking or 7 minutes later???
Luke 23:39-43
Why is “assisted suicide” painless and peaceful but executions are often as described in this case?
Cheerleader vs. others. Wow. Way to slap down the family and friends of the “others.” What makes the cheerleader more important?
Of course a good percentage claim,in their statement, that they're innocent...that the government is murdering an innocent man...blah,blah,blah.
But a surprising percentage (surprising to me,at least) acknowledge their guilt and express regret, shame, etc for having done what they did.
Our Constitution forbids "cruel and unusual" punishment.Lawyers and groups opposed to the death penalty hammer that clause time and time again so states must abide by guidelines that would be approved by the Supreme Court.
