Artificial 'brain in a dish' is created in a world first: Breakthrough could shed light on conditions such as Alzheimer's

Disembodied brains. What could go wrong? What are they thinking? I’m no Luddite, but this bothers me.

Brains in a dish.
Early 20th century SF writer Olaf Stapledon wrote a massive work called “Last and First Men”, which was a future history of the evolution of humankind through many iterations. Has anyone read it?
The Fourth Men were the brains in a dish. They ruled the world, and the remaining humans served them, for a while. It ended badly.

similar to those of a two-month-old baby in the womb.
Wait, wait. I'm confused. Are they saying a two-month old unborn fetus? Because I have been told and told again that that "thing" in a womb is not a "baby".

Hmmm, proof positive fetuses aren’t just blobs of cells. Oops, that’s not going to go over well with the libs.

There was a similar Star Trek episode. Had Kirk fight a gladiator duel with a babe in a bikini. The brains were betting on the match.
The show didn’t end well either. Kirk had to leave her behind.

With border crossings down 90%, how else does one expect the democrats to expand their voter base?

Yes, Stapledon's work had some interesting ideas, though it was a long read. There was also a famous Curt Siodmak story about a preserved brain,
Donovan's Brain; Orson Welles starred in a
Suspense adaptation of it. Then there was
The Brain That Wouldn't Die. . .

They could have saved a lot of money and time as there are thousands of “mini-brains” walking all over the place, we call then sno-flakes right now. All it would take is a little re-programming and they might be salvageable.
