A man has been charged with fatally shooting a Marine in the drive-thru of a McDonald's in Bedford, Indiana, according to police and NBC affiliate WTHR.
Justin Lampkins, 25, was in a truck with his friends in line at the fast food restaurant early Saturday morning about 1:19 a.m., police say. The Marine Corps veteran was involved in a fight after a horn was sounded in the line and Evan Schaffer,22, got out of his car and punched Lampkins, WTHR reports.
Police say it's unclear who honked the horn.

More McNugget rage.
McDonalds are wildlife preserves. Not a great idea to honk, make eye contact or any sudden movements
I go through McD to get pineapple mango slushies. I have noticed that some people don’t just order, they have a whole conversation with the McD person. Very maddening.
Nothing good happens after midnight.
The fact that he is a Marine is really not relevant to the story. This was at 1 am, and it appears he brought fists to a gun fight.
“The fact that he is a Marine is really not relevant to the story.”
Actually it is, he was a Marine why didn’t he kick the punk’s ass?
Unrelated but kick-ass. Never rob a store in front of a Marine

Punk had a gun..
He did BUT he first came up and hit the Marine. Then he went back to his car and got the gun. Don’t get it, the Marine should have had his punk-ass down on the floor before the first blow!
“McDonalds are wildlife preserves.”
+1.
Part of the new culture in the military, including the Marine Corps is a low tolerance for any “bad behavior.” If you have a couple of beers at dinner, walk out of the restaurant, trip over the curb and break you ankle it is “an alcohol related incident” and not good for your career. Gone are the days of the judge saying “go to jail or join the Marine Corps.” As a side note, one of my roommates in college was such a Marine. He got caught stealing from his employer and spent 4 years in the Corps. Changed his life. But, I digress.
So I speculate: He may have in fact told the punk that he would kick his ass, but really didn’t want to get into a fight. The punk probably summed up the situation and realized that he was outmatched, so he did what punks do.
Sad on several levels. We lose a Marine, and now have to support a punk in prison.
Part of this kind of thing, I believe, is a result of our self-esteem culture. Everyone is walking around with a chip on their shoulder because they have been taught from birth that they are “special” and “Don’t let anyone disrespect you!”
Now instead of a honk being taken in stride, people erupt in boiling rage.
Going thru most drive-thru’s leaves you trapped and vulnerable to pan handlers and muggers. I just don’t do it.
Ban McDonalds!
Well, he's about to get his wish. No possessions and a fresh start somewhere new.
Shoulda taken those anger management classes.
And now, instead of a girlfriend, he can have a husband in the joint!
I hate drive throughs. I find it much more efficient to go inside. Sometimes you see a long line of cars queued up and when you get inside, you go straight to the counter.

Spot on. Sitting in a car gives you little room to maneuver or go into action. Park the car and go inside to order your food.
Nothing good can come from honking your horn at someone after 1 am.
