It's been a while since I posted something about the new Windows 10 Creators Update that Microsoft started rolling out on Apr 11. Here's the thing to look out for among all the nice new features:
Creators Update RESETS ALL YOUR PRIOR PRIVACY SETTINGS TO DEFAULT "SEND EVERYTHING".
You will have to put them back to the way you wanted them, manually. And BTW, they changed the way the settings work, because they love to change things in the UI (we learned that especially with Vista and Win8). So you get to spend some time figuring out how to get back to the way you wanted things.
Figured y'all might like to know about that.
And you WILL accept this update -- it's not optional. You can delay it, or block it by playing tricks with the update service. But if you want the bug fixes and security patches, you will get this update eventually.
That said, the Creators Update has some very nice features and improvements. Embrace it...

No Classic GUI?
They can keep the update and 10 or cram it. I’m staying with 7.
Although, I am finding more and more websites that baulk at 7 and try to force browser upgrades. Too many browser upgrades have broken too many extensions/add-ons, so I am sticking with older versions of them too.

Windows 10 Creators Update also focuses on transparency around its data collection policies.
That is like websites wanting my mobile number -- for faster log-in verification and all.
Yeah, right! They want it to sell to telemarketers and I AIN'T GIVIN' IT!

#Fedora25
The latest Fedora is running Wayland. Desktop Linux has been improving while Windows has just become annoying. It took a while to get hulu working, but now it plays Netflix, hulu, and Amazon. It also runs well on old hardware (Core2Duo E4300, 4GB, Intel 915 video). Also, having so many desktop environments available gives people a lot of freedom to customize the look of the desktop.

It has a desktop mode. Unless there is something in this above recent update that I missed. But that being said I’ve been using Linux more and more due to my disgust with Windows 10 privacy issues.
I actually like the Win10 interface but now I’m noticing performance issues to where it wants to think and crunch momentarily after the computer has been setting idle.

I heard about the update so I cut off updates about Apr 6-7 and went on about my business. The next thing I know it’s telling me to restart to install updates. All your Borg belong to us. Resistance is futile.

There’s an app that runs remotely to change all the settings to protect your privacy in Win10. Looks like a good one for those who don’t like to fuss with all the internal settings much and just use the dang thing for what it’s for; Interweb surfing.

Microsoft’s “privacy settings” mean your information will only be sent to seventeen nation’s intelligence agencies and organized crime families instead of eighteen. :-)
You get to pick which seventeen!

I was wondering how long it would take someone to come up with a Free antispy tool for Windows 10.
The other day I found a app that makes Windows 10 look like Windows 7 start menu but I can't find the link at the moment.

I run two computers, both Win 7. The one with personal data never is connected to another computer or internet.
(don’t laugh) I transfer data from the internet computer to the air-gapped one via USB memory stick.
As long as Win7 is capable of doing the very basic functions we need to do, we will keep them.
Zero reason to get Win 10 and all it’s issues.
