PITTSBURGH - Police were searching Friday morning for a burglar who broke into a Carrick bar.
Channel 11’s Steven Fisher reported that police and the owner were called to the Double Door Bar at 4 a.m. when a security alarm went off.
Officers found the cash register on the ground, but no money was missing.
The burglar took two six-packs of Coors Light beer.
The owner told Channel 11 News that the surveillance cameras at the bar were not working.
Light beer? They had their choice and they took light beer? I’m sorry, but light beer and automatic transmission were the first steps in the emasculation of the American man.
The reason is likely not emasculation, but lack of mental agility. Carrick is the ultimate white trash neighborhood. Dick Morris’ toe-sucking babe hails from there.
Side point, but I have many fond memories of Carrick. At one time it was a sold German-descent, working-class community. I spent many an evening at a private bar there, the (German) Literary Club.
Today’s Carrick - from what I’m told - is not the same Carrick that I remember from years ago.

Carrick was a nice middle-class neighborhood when I was a kid three decades ago. (though it was the place you went cruising to meet girls who were a little on the sleazy side)
Now the best thing you can say for Carrick is that at least it’s not Mount Oliver.
They best check the local union hall.

If you want to know what Carrick will be like 10 years from now, look at Mount Oliver today. And if you want to know what Brentwood will be like 10 years from now, look at Carrick today.

I walked around German Village in Columbus, Ohio for the first time about two months ago (beyond the requisite trip to Schmidt’s on my way out of town). Those kraut immigrants were squared away.

True story - A none too bright guy (ok, moron) I graduated with from HS became the sheriff. He went into a convenience store to buy 2 six packs of beer. The clerk told him the 12 pack was cheaper. Sheriff Moron declined and replied he couldn’t drink a 12 pack.
