Politics aside, Joan Baez has a fantastic voice, even today.
Besides the hit “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down”, I used to like her version of “Joe Hill”. I loved her gospel phrasing of it, till I learned that “Joe Hill” was one of the Communist Anthems. Oops!
Of course some say the exact same thing about John Lennon’s “Imagine.”

Mr. Hoplalong Ginsberg; You music is not my favorite style, but don’t stop. Many here do love what you produce. You have your own style, you’re an artist having fun, taking risks and giving
pleasure to others. I am a visual artist, but presently, with no studio, no real privacy, I have not felt inspired to make it happen. You, on the other hand are still living it.
So I stop by, hear your work and am inspired. “He’s still at it!”

Thank you. Believe me, I have no intention of stopping.

I thought her accent in “The night they drove old dixie down” was as contrived as Hilary’s “I ain’t no ways tired.”

I preferred the Band’s version.
