The owner blames the boy for 'getting in the dog's face'. More like getting in the dog's mouth.

South Dallas (Duncanville) and pit bulls.

Early in my adult life I was a registered nurse in a recovery room. Several patients came though the unit after surgery to the face to repair damage done by dog bites.

One woman was eating a meal with friends and reached for a napkin on the floor. The friend's dog bit her in the face.

According to the dog’s owner, Anthony Johnson, the child climbed over a fence and into the owner’s backyard despite repeated warning’s from Johnson’s son not to.

People don’t understand that despite thousands of years of domestication, dogs are still basically wolves and a face to face confrontation can bring an attack, especially for children who are at eye level with a dog. To a dog, a stare is a challenge. I too was bit in the face as a youngster and have been careful around dogs ever since.

After all these years of reading about pit bulls that break through screen doors, chase children down the block, jump into neighbors yards and kill people and animals, I have little patience for people who decide to own pit bulls knowing that they kill more people than all other breeds combined. I’ve watched the videos and read the documented maulings and killings - pit bulls are not appropriate pets but are basically wild animals that need to be kept in special enclosures etc. I’m stunned that at present, the owner is claiming that the dog was in it’s yard because most pit bulls maim/kill in the victim’s space (especially when pits kill their owners). That, and the fact the kid is alive and doesn’t have detatched limbs or jaw.

One year old pit bull that’s 80lbs....note that pit bulls are known for silent attacks....so they aren’t the best watch dogs yet the owner says it’s a guard dog. Yeah...you need the breed that kills and maims more people than alll other breeds combined...and you need one that’s gonna be massive so get one that’s 80lbs at the one year mark.

Put this idiot dog owner in jail and put the filthy dog down.

WTF is wrong with people that put instinct killer animals above humans? Jail this moron now.

TFB for the moron owning the killer dog. Jail him, kill his dog and pay the child for life.

Yeah, me too. I have also killed a few of these worthless dogs while they were trying to harm me for “violating” their nihilistic and “islam” behavior.

You breed evil, you bleed evil.

I do understand the problem with pits - and I don't see why people want them but if the dog is in his own fenced yard and an "intruder" jumps the fence, it is hard to blame the dog/owner.

I know people will say that they have sweetheart pitbulls that wouldn’t hurt a fly, but they are more aggressive and more easily triggered than most dogs. Their temperament is not suitable to be around children at all.

Owners of pit bulls have a dismal track record of lying about attacks and even about the genetic heritage of their dog. Since people rightly fear the pit bull type dogs, owners lie through their teeth and claim their dog is not related to pit bull types. Then there’s the sickos who breed pit bulls with rottweiller coloring. They lie about where their dog attacked and they like to say the dog was provoked. I don’t know about this instance yet, but history is against him and his lousy choices. I’ve read accounts of pit bull owners offering nothing but lies lies lies lies because when their pit bull draws blood, most owners have zero intention of accepting responsibility. Watched videos of pit bull attack victims dressed in major hospital bandaging, facing years of surgery, and they “get” to lose their homes because pit bull owners have no insurance and claim it was an accident. This guy knew what kind of dog he owned.

The kid was very lucky he was not seriously maimed or killed. I would take that into account as a pet owner - hey the neighbor kid is 10 years old and what happens to him if he acts like a 10 year old and misbehaves by climbing the fence into my yard where my 80lb+ pit bull, the breed bred to attack and kill, lives? Make a mistake and lose your face? I know what you mean IF the owner is telling the truth, what kind of dog can you have in your yard if the kid climbs the fence? Answer: Not the breed known to kill and maim disproportionately unless perfectly contained in specialized animal enclosures.

We recently took a walk around our small town with our young children and old collie. We went past as house with a pit bull tied to the front steps on a short chain. He was going nuts: barking, lunging and flipping over when he hit lost slack in the chain. His owner came out and said things like “stop it!” over and over-dog completely ignored her. They have no control over that very aggressive pit bull and if it ever gets off its chain someone will be badly hurt or killed.

It makes me angry because there are kids always biking and walking around town. I really hope none of them end up a victim of that dog.

Some people enjoy hurting or killing other human beings. Not sure reasoning works with them.
