I didn’t check the date at first and thought “what kind of moron would name a giant ship the Titanic.”

A potentially serious accident narrowly averted.

That was my thought too when I read " new White Star liner Titanic".

That is fascinating to look at the actual pages of the paper.
"Women's Suffrage Party"
The ads too - "One-way settlers fares to the Northwest".

Just think though, if she had damaged the Titanic the the Titanic might have never struck the iceberg.

Miss Jennie Black demands men be home by 9pm so women and children can have the streets to themselves...

The captain of the Titanic should have been more careful.
He almost lost the ship!

That is fascinating to look at the actual pages of the paper. I agree, one article is about a girl getting $8000/year income. Equal to about $196,000 today. Livin high on the hog that one!

Is it possible the Titanic was going too fast and too close under the circumstances, the same mistake that was repeated a few days later?

Been there, done that, couple of times. Always when most of the crew was ashore.

I was thinking the same thing. A minor collision might have meant repairs and delay that would have brought warmer weather as summer approached.
