The Pentagon says the highly-accurate satellite guided missiles, launched from two ships in the Mediterranean sea, hit every target with pinpoint precision.
It took launching 61 missiles total to put 59 on target. One missile failed, and another had to be aborted. In both cases another missile was launched to take its place.
The Pentagon released imagery that shows hardened shelters were no match for the cruise missiles. Each of the targeted shelters had a hole in the top, and charred airplane wreckage scattered nearby.
The U.S. is still doing a more complete assessment, but estimates 20 Syrian warplanes were destroyed either in bunkers or in the clear.
In addition, a Russian-made surface-to-air missile site and its associated radar was destroyed, essentially rendering the airfield unprotected against a future attack, at least in the short term.

My coworkers are CONVINCED that it was Trump who did the chemical attacks in order to pin it on Assad and pull a ‘wag the dog’ with it all - in order to divert attention to all the “illegal crap” he’s doing to us here at home.... it’s laughable to me cos it’s ‘logic’ to them.

According to Reuters Syria is already flying again out of this airbase striking areas of the Homs countryside.

Not me actually. Always liked Cruz. Seems DJT is flushing out Bannon and the populists and embracing the neo cons. Oh well, maybe a third Bush administration is still better than Hillary? Bitter sweet.
I don’t think the cost/value pencils out well for using cruise missiles to bomb an airfield that can be repaired in a few days...and likely has no strategic significance
Destroying complex fighter aircraft does though.
Taking out the aircraft delivery systems was good enough. Cruise missiles are not made for catering runways.
Use something like BLU-107 Durandals to take out runways, which would take aircraft to deliver them.
For hardened aircraft shelters. GPS makes it easy these days. My handheld GPS has accuracy down to 12' to 15' - dang good.
59 missiles to take out 9 old Migs that can be easily replaced by Russia is not the greatest use of resources

Article says 20 A/C destroyed that are likely Sukhoi, which is a full squadron of planes. Some of the missiles were likely programed to take out static support equipment and alike.
