A 50 year old low budget SciFi show
that has this kind of popularity
Is Proof of it’s Genius!
Dr. Who did a lot on a tiny budget too.
Red, it was all about the superior imagination of the writers, the compelling nature of the stories. Today we have special effects winning the awards, many of which are cartoons. The writing of the script, the stories themselves are relegated to “The Guardian of Forever.”
Yes,
And speaking as an old female who was a young teen back then, ‘This Side of Paradise’ was a favorite.
(Fueled many a teenage dream, for those of us who were strangely in love with Spock - and there were a lot of us!)

Exactly!
I never cared much for the TNG series. I found all the characters annoying. Data irritated me the most. I thought the concept of the character ludicrous! An android of unknown origin in Star Fleet? WTF! What did he do, just wander into a Federation recruiting office tell them he wanted to “ Be All He Could Be!”? They said sure sign here! Maybe it was a Star Fleet press gang, they knocked him on the head and “Shiver me timbers!” he’s in Star Fleet! Then there is Councilor Troi! What they take their high school guidance councilor into space! My special disdain was for Picard! A real leader so much so that he couldn’t make any real tough command decisions until he brought his space bartender (Whoopi Goldberg!)into the discussion!
I don’t think I made it through a single episode!
Now I did like DS9, I thought it was well written and compelling. The one character I did dislike was the alien that had the worm in her. I thought that was a stupid concept. It made no sense biologically and my mind ruined the story line.
