President Donald Trumps 2007 Ferrari F430 F1 Coupe was sold at an "Auctions America" event in Florida Saturday for a private sale at a record $270,000. Trump purchased the Ferrari about 10 years ago and owned it for four years, however did not drive it much. In 2011 he sold it with fewer than 2,400 miles on it.
Looks like most comparable cars of that model are going for $100K to about $150K.
Dang, and I was only $270,000 short...
It wasn’t sold at auction. It failed to meet the reserve at auction but was later sold in a private transaction.
He sold it 3 years ago, should have kept it.
He was reported to have sold it in 2011.
That would be 6 years ago,he should have kept it.
I haven’t bought a new vehicle since 1988 so have sort of gotten out of the auto information universe. Maybe two years ago, I got a free subscription to several auto magazines including Car & Driver and Motor Trend.
Reading the specs I could not believe how much horsepower they are now getting out of small engines. Just about all of them art turbocharged or supercharged.
If I could afford any car I wanted it would not be a Ferrari no matter how much fun they are to drive.
I would want both performance plus reliability. Probably would get a high end Mercedes or Porsche.
Was it sold to Robin Masters?
Nobody wants a Ferrari with an automatic transmission.
There is something about a manual transmission, the three pedals, you have to think.
I’d take one if the price was right. Ever try to row through that blasted gate?
They should have Sold it at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale back in February.
Larger Event and their Marketing draws bigger crowds.
It isn’t just another Auto Auction, it’s an Event.
Just my $.02, your Mileage may vary...
The Ferrari is the best of the Guinea Go-carts.
Best handling, best feel, best overall drive. I have driven quite a few of them, Lambo, Maserati, Pantera.
For me, a car is just a car, a means from A to B. Toyota fills that bill the best.
When I first learned to drive in the early 60s I loved manual transmissions. A four on the floor was considered really, really cool.
Still even then, I would have taken an auto if they were actually faster and now they are.
One thing I have read about newer sports cars is a lot of them have fake noise coming from their audio systems. That strikes me as about as cool as a swallow tailed straight jacket! I can’t imagine anyone wanting fake noise.
Insulation and sound
barriers have been added
to newer vehicles to deaden
drive train noise in the
cabin.
Mustang GT’s have a sound tube
that pipes engine sound from
under the hood to the cabin.
With the tube disconnected
and plugged, you can barely
tell the engine is even running.
My son has a Grand Cherokee
that inadvertently was left
running for a half an hour
while we ate lunch. It idled
quiet enough to where you couldn’t
hear it running.
The M5 has this enhanced
“motor sound” routed
though the stereo.
I like it, as there is no
audible difference in sound
new school vs old school.
Chipmunks drive Cobras?
I love his job
Toyota Land Cruiser J100 best car I ever owned....240,000 miles and I’d drive it from Nashville to Fairbanks tomorrow if need be
Paid 18,500 in 2005....it’s a 2001
I’d driven the 60s 70s in South America a lot and the 80 here so I knew them
We’ll never sell it...my daily driver is a 2009 FJ...SPECIAL EDITION BLACK ON BLACK WITH STITCHED LEATHER
I love it
I’ll never sell it either...soon enough I’ll throw that Cummuns four banger in it...or the Isuzu workhorse which I used to use on mining dredges
But a car is more than just transport to most of us..sorry
I prefer a Porsche....and my Johnson is just fine before the innuendo starts
Best performance and reliability and price....besides a Vette...but Vettes don’t handle as well....and the ones on roids overheat
Been my experience
I owned other fancy cars....I like Mercedes too actually
But Italian cars are trouble no matter how cool....and they are that
Brit cars....god help ya..my first car was a Lucas electric money pit mgbgt but I liked pain so much I then bought a 1960 MGA
I’m nothing if not masochistic
I watch those cool Alfa commercials on TV and think been there done that
No thanks
You’d grin too, if you had his job. :)
