A Dauphin County woman reportedly has been arrested after she allegedly slammed her daughter's head into the wall and then kicked her out of her house after drunkenly testing the girl on Bible verses.
Rhonda Kemp Shoffner, 41, of the first block of Middletown, was charged March 14 with aggravated assault, endangering a child under 13, strangulation and terroristic threats. She was being held at the Dauphin County prison after failing to post $100,000 bail, according to public records.

Sounds wonderful! Spagbol (as I think the Brits call it) is my absolute favorite.
We’re making a chicken dish from a recipe in the NYTimes. Breading, mushrooms, shallots, cognac and setting it on fire - which we do every Saturday night. Setting food on fire, I mean.
Nopardons: Wait Until Dark is on TMC right now - I have it on. Filmed in England I think, passing for NYC.
More of an uptight puritan than a yenta but I get your drift.
Sounds good. :)
I admit to being ‘cute’ and sassy and having a weird sense of humor even as a kid
BUT
Good thing the Nuns I was associated weren’t held to a ‘hit em’ standard....’’
I have ‘kissed the cross’ on more than one occasion...
Also, if you ‘got it’ at school, don’t ‘take it’ home with you.
You would get it at home, then in school next day for carrying it home....
Yes, other than this thread...I'm having a pleasant, though rainy Saturday. Hope that you are as well.
Your dinner sounds marvelous as well and her I sit, wondering what to make. I do have some leftover Bouef Bourguignon in the icebox, some home made, from scratch, but frozen "sauce" for spaghetti in the freezer, and there's always the phone handy... with which to order some Chinese food on. ;^)
Saturday is FLAMBE night at Chez MM ? How lovely!
SUPERCILIOUS PRIG, is the correct term; however, the meddling part is YENTAish. ;^)
Also saw the film, with Audrey Hepburn, when it came out, on TCM many times, and have the disc. It's a great movies and was one heck of a play, to see live! :-)
Wow! I guess so! :)
Yes, we set the house on fire every Saturday night. And Sunday morn is spent rebuilding the house.
Actually, what you have sounds like it could be turned into a wonderful meal - sort of like Chopped tv. I’ve been tossing around the idea of Beef Bourguignon recently since I’ve cornered the market on frozen pearl onions which are increasingly hard to find because Birds Eye is more concerned with Lima Beans and Cauliflower in Thai Satay Cheese Sauce. But since I’m always in the mood for Chinese...speed dial, my FRiend!
You saw Lee Remick on B’way and you didn’t tell me??? My husband and I were just talking about this - how we would have loved to have seen her!!! And Robert Duvall! I think that put him on the map for further glory. Boy, I’m really jealous.
Just imagine sitting in a proper theatre, watching the play, on the edge of one's seat ( terrifying scene that it is ) and all of a sudden, every single light...on the stage, the exit lights...everything...goes OUT! The entire audience jumped out of their seats! If you haven't seen the movie...DO SO! You'll thank me. :-)
Oh please...don't talk to me about pearl onions! Not only are they almost impossible to find frozen, they ARE impossible to find fresh; which I prefer to use, even though they are a huge bother.
If you want the recipe ( I use Julia Childs' ) it may be on line and if not, I'll give it you.
LOL...you watch CHOPPED too? I should have know! ;^)
The phone has been used. :-)
That was a GOLDEN ERA, for Broadway shows and we went to a LOT of them, back then. Also the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company was here, doing the whole G&S bill and The City Center, so I was in seventh heaven!
I’m telling you the truth.
If you want to choose to believe whatever lie you tell yourself, you are free to do so.
Whatever helps you sleep at night.
Look, you're just an irrelevant little nobody, who apparently enjoys/needs being being the center of attraction, so much, that you have to butt into other people's on any number of threads.I do hope that this reply gives you that satisfaction.
I saw it in the movie theater in 1967 - the entire audience came out of its seat and chaos ensued. It still holds up and Audrey is darling. I can only imagine Lee in the role.
Yet, seeing it LIVE, there was an even LARGER impact; one you had to see, to imagine.
The movie holds up VERY well, as it was well written ( the original play ) and well acted.
Fred Knotts. He also wrote Dial M for Murder which was shown right before Wait Until Dark. On my hi-def tv, I was really looking at the amazing set design of the movie which absolutely captures the cramped apts. of the West Village. Audrey has those Julia Child-inspired wall boards for hanging utensils all over the place. I have them too because my kitchen has very little storage. Beautifully designed movie.
You've got a GREAT eye; my friend! Those wall boards were VERY much "in", in the mid '60s.
OTOH, my first apartment was in the West Village and it didn't even have any wall space for one, as my kitchen was in a tiny hallway, between what I laughably called my "foyer ( which it wasn't ) and the living room. LOL
