I like a couple of U2 songs (Vertigo and Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For). The rest I can take or leave.
Same with Hall and Oats. I really like the first two on the list. But the rest, meh.
“I Can’t Go For That”
I heard that song playing in my head for Obama’s entire time at the White House.
John Oates’ son lived in the same dorm as my son a few years ago. It was only significant because my son is a big fan of old rock.
Maneater was so unique and different at the time that it’s high on my list personally. Such a distinct song that you automatically know from the first cords what is it. Great driving song
I’ve enjoyed occasionally watching some Youtube clips of “Daryl’s House” where Daryl Hall invites other big name musicians over to his house to play with his house band. What shines through is the mutual respect among these musicians and also the realization of the talent that goes much farther beyond what their chosen musical genre called for.
Just dang! I forgot about that one. I was just listening to it yesterday on WAKY radio too! It’s actually my favorite.
Good message, too. :-)
Tell me what you think of this version of that song

“She’s Gone” is magnificent. At least to me :) The long version; not the crap short version they play on the radio.
I saw them in Memphis around 1983. I remember that T-Bone Burnett played with the band that night. I also remember pot smoke wafting through the Mid-South Coloseum.
H & O put out some fine pop tunes. I am NOT a huge fan of pop. Motown, Stax, Fame, the Phillips sound... Even Chess (to a lesser degree), But Hall & Oates delivered. Mid seventies through the eighties it was good stuff, it was catchy, it was melodic it rang true of those that came before in the pop genre! I always appreciated their output and to this day when I watch an edition of Halls place I thoroughly enjoy it. I do miss T-Bone Wolk quite a bit, he was another of my favorite Electric bassists but I can’t say enough about their talent they are a talent. They might not have been recognized by certain musicians or groups of musicians but they are a talent. And that is a fact.
Compare to Daryl and Rob

T-Bone.... the Wolk was my dog barking to go chase something.... I hate auto correct... although I have embraced the voice to text feature... albeit reluctantly.
She’s Gone
Came out at the time my marriage was dissolving.
Daryl’s House “Crazy” with Cee Lo is good. It’s disappointing that Daryl’s House also did Cee Lo’s “F==k You”.
What was unique about them were their ability to incorporate a bit of jazz into many of their pop and rock songs.
