William Anthony, Ph.D., a Boston University Professor and his wife, Camille Anthony, created National Napping Day in 1999 as an effort to spotlight the health benefits to catching up on quality sleep. “We chose this particular Monday because Americans are more ‘nap-ready’ than usual after losing an hour of sleep to daylight saving time,” Anthony said in B.U.’s press release.

How about ending the reason for putting “National Nap Day” on this _particular_ day?

I’ve been up half the night for 3 nights caring for a sick son. Last thing I needed was two mornings of self-righteous idiots deciding to shift everyone’s time measurements, regardless of consequences, just because they “want more light in the evening” yet refuse to change their own schedules accordingly - denying me two hours of much-needed sleep in the process, among 10 million other parents suffering from trying to impose an abrupt schedule change on children.

WWII is over. Let’s resume sane, consistent horological measurements.

Don't The Spanish take afternoon siestas?

I agree completely.

For a variety of reasons this was one of the worst weekends for me to lose an hour.

A co-worker said it best,”daylight savings is a cruel joke”.

Why don’t they do the shift on Friday night, so we have the whole weekend to begin to adjust?

I don’t have ducks and I don’t have a row. I have squirrels and they are drunk.

Welcome to DST Monday!

No sheet, I could not get out of bed today until noon. Fortunately, I had no appointments. Got here to the office about 1:30

You have to prepare. Last week, I went to bed earlier every day, and got up earlier every day. By Saturday, I was going to bed at 10 and getting up at 6.

I had an epic nap yesterday. My wife commented on how impressed she was. At precisely 3:30pm, I stopped snoring, reached for the remote, turned it on and opened my eyes, just in time for the opening ceremonies of the N+ASCAR race.

She was just getting ready to wake me up for it.

That’s how professional nappers do it.

# 12 That’s how professional nappers do it. You are my hero! I am NOT a professional, since I have never been paid for my skill; and I DO admire your excellence/commitment ~ we should one day compete in a Nap-a-catholon... :^) YOU LOSE!

Thanks son. It took years to perfect the art.

If you work hard, eat your Ovaltine and undertake deep examination of the inside of your eyelids, you may be able to reach my level of napology.

Nope that title goes to an old friend of mine. He once took a nap in the chair for about 8 hours, then he got up and went to bed for another 12.

It was after a particularly grueling weekend. A bunch of us were competing and he won.

For me, napping is almost a daily ritual to have any energy after 6pm.
