Frightened immigrants are creeping into Canada through a quiet border town in northeast New York to escape Donald Trump.
The families are fleeing through the town of Champlain which shares a border with Quebec.
They make their crossing on Roxham Road which leads them directly towards the village of Hemmingford and in to the path of Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers who take them to immigration offices where they can apply for asylum.
Since Donald Trump tried to implement a controversial travel ban stopping citizens from Muslim majority countries from entering the US, foot traffic on the road has increased.
Residents told how some families were sneaking over the illegal crossing in the middle of the night to avoid being caught.
'I’m not O.K. with it but I definitely can’t blame them,' Matthew Turner, who lives on Roxham Road, said.
Earlier this month, families claiming to be from Turkey were pictured being arrested after making the crossing at Roxham Road.
Crossing illegally at Roxham Road gives the families a quicker chance of settling in Canada.
It is illegal for any migrant to apply for asylum at the dozens of official border crossings. If they show up hoping for the best, they are turned back to stay in the US.
But if they cross illegally, they are arrested on Canadian soil. Police then have no choice but to allow them to make a refugee claim, process them and release them.
Roxham Road is one of the holes which led officials to liken the border to a block of Swiss Cheese. There are similar crossings happening in Vermont where families ditched their brand new cars and walked across the border last month.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has shared his unequivocal openness to refugees since Trump began adjusting immigration laws.

I wonder how many of those families ditching their brand new cars bought one with no money down, believing they would not return to America so they didn’t care about trashing their credit score when they dumped their brand new purchase to be reposessed.
Decades ago, I had a Syrian co-worker who returned to Syria with his wife. For the next 2 years, we got a long parade of incessant calls from all the various collection agencies trying to reach him. Right before he left for Syria, he made dozens of purchases of high end clothes and jewelry and things knowing he would never return and they would never be able to collect. He just completely stole from those companies and did so pre-meditatedly.
Those Arabs are real horse-traders and con-men. They see a safe, easy opportunity to rip you off to enrich themselves and they will do it.

and they RIOTED in Germany to protest lousy cell phone coverage at their camp. I still remember the WW2 movies where you saw old Jewish couples with small children pushing a cart to wherever they would land, as long as it was away from the advancing enemy.
And now the FIRST QUESTION they ask when setting foot in Europe is where to find a receptacle to recharge their phones.
Obviously this is an invasion, but it is a SMART INVASION. The ‘defenders’ aren’t bothering with guns, so the invaders don’t need to bother either...and they are quickly accomplishing their goal, another 10 years or so should pretty much end Europe’s run.
They’re “moose-limbs” one they get to Canada.
What can we do to help these poor, oppressed barbarians ‘escape’ to Canada?

Why are they “creeping”? Do they think Trump cares that they’re leaving? Trudeau said they’re welcome there. Sounds like a win-win-win. But they’re sneaking creeping in? I think they’ve been watching too many Underground Railroad movies. Sheesh. Just go already and enough with the high drama.
This is not solving the problem. The “West” includes Canada... such as it is.
