Joni Sledge, who recorded the infectious dance anthem We Are Family with her three sisters, was found dead in her Phoenix home, the bands rep said Saturday.
The 60-year-old member of Sister Sledge had not been ill, and her cause of death remains unclear, said the bands publicist Biff Warren.
A friend found Sledge on Friday.
On yesterday, numbness fell upon our family. We welcome your prayers as we weep the loss of our sister, mother, aunt, niece and cousin, read a family statement.

Here is some trivia for you. The song "Ring My Bell" was originally written for then 11-year-old Stacy Lattisaw. The original lyrics were about pre-teen girls chatting on the telephone. But when Stacy passed it up, the lyrics were made more suggestive and it became a massive number one disco hit for Anita.
By the way, Stacy is still alive and kicking - she just turned 50 years old.
RIP.
Herb is still with us at age 75. Peaches died 12 years ago at 58. I looooved "Reunited."
