Joni Sledge, who recorded ‘We Are Family’ with sisters, dies at 60

Joni Sledge, who recorded the infectious dance anthem “We Are Family” with her three sisters, was found dead in her Phoenix home, the band’s rep said Saturday.

The 60-year-old member of Sister Sledge had not been ill, and her cause of death remains unclear, said the band’s publicist Biff Warren.

A friend found Sledge on Friday.

“On yesterday, numbness fell upon our family. We welcome your prayers as we weep the loss of our sister, mother, aunt, niece and cousin,” read a family statement.

Anita Ward who hit it big with "Ring My Bell" is now ringing her bell in disco heaven.

Where did you see this? Anita Ward is still with us from what I have found.

You are right. I must have had her confused with somebody else. Anita is still down here among us. In her honor, I will stream her 1979 album tonight.

Here is some trivia for you. The song "Ring My Bell" was originally written for then 11-year-old Stacy Lattisaw. The original lyrics were about pre-teen girls chatting on the telephone. But when Stacy passed it up, the lyrics were made more suggestive and it became a massive number one disco hit for Anita.

By the way, Stacy is still alive and kicking - she just turned 50 years old.

Herb is still with us at age 75. Peaches died 12 years ago at 58. I looooved "Reunited."
