Of course you’re going after extreme examples that are NOT what the studies are talking about. Most of the studies are in the 20lb “extra” zone, which really means they’re showing the BMI is full of crap. Of course another part of the problem is that people who fight their weight a lot crash diet a lot, and that is extremely unhealthy, eat too little and your body starts digesting itself which takes years off. The real test of fitness isn’t weight, it’s basic functionality. If you can’t walk a mile without being winded and exhausted you’ve got problems thin or fat. Can you pick up a gallon jug and pour a glass? That’s a big problem for older folks and great reason to keep some level of weight training in your life.
I don't care what the "studies" show. Look around. I see fat people everywhere. And, I mean FAT. Fifty or more pounds overweight. It's horrendous. A real good portion of Americans are nothing more than animals being fattened to the slaughter.
I don’t think anyone needs to diet. What one needs is a little bit of knowledge about what certain processed foods are doing to our pancreas.
One needs to deplete the glycogen storage before the body burns fat. An example of depleting the Glycogen storage in a traumatic way is when a marathon runner, “hits the wall” and collapses at the end of a race. There is no glucose in the body.
The body will always mobilize tissue to maintain glucose levels to feed the brain, but people do not lose weight because they don’t understand what’s going on inside.
They buy Nutra Systems. They lose their 25 lbs, then stop and gain it back. They don’t understand why a low carb, high protein diet works.
