Not fair to Ohio.
Liberals in Ohio are almost exclusively in the big cities. My County, for example, was pushing 80% Trump.
I suspect OH is more conservative than PA and VA and equal to NC.
I've spent some work assignments in southeastern Ohio—Marietta, New Concord, and Muskingum county, Zanesville, a few other places. Very pretty; it's part of Appalachia with rolling hills, and good people. I even saw oil wells actively pumping on farmland.
One time I was there right before the 2008 election. Sarah Palin was HUGELY popular. A Republican lady there told me they had run out of yard signs—it had never happened before.
Having lived in PA and OH, I’d have to say that PA outside of Pittsburgh and Philly is REALLY Conservative.
The old joke about how “Alabama lies in between” is pretty much true.
Ohio on the other hand has major urban areas scattered all over the place which are infested with Democrats. My birthplace of Columbus has become Detroit on the Olentangy.
It was a joke
