He _was_ an intruder.
It’s tough being a Dad.
Stupid girl. She needs to at very least lose her phone and car privileges for a while. The boy has already paid for not thinking before he acted. His family cannot really blame the homeowner but they probably will anyway for a while.
This tragedy should make the father wonder #1. How many times had this boy sneaked in before, and #2. How many other guys period have been coming by during the night? #3. Was there alcohol being drank (age 17!) or were there illegal drugs being brought in? #4. Who else knows he was coming over?
Man....I used to climb into my girlfriend’s second floor bedroom window at night when I was a teenager. Never got got:) I also knew dad did not have a weapon. Young people do stupid things. Just a fact of life.
A 14 year old girl, invites a 17 year old boy into her home past 2:30 in the morning without telling her father. What could possibly go wrong?
It is the girls fault. Not the dad and not the boyfriend.
She invited him over knowing her dad was a 2Aer. She is a moron. She should spend till her 21st birthday in juvie. Dad should spend 6 months for manslaughter. So should her mother.
The things we males risk our lives for...
BUT DAD!!!! NOW I’LL NEVER GET A DATE TO PROM!!!!!
Reminds me of an old BFF in high school whose dad threatened her boyfriend with an axe when he found him in bed with his daughter.
“Derrick Fulton, 49, shot dead Jordan Middleton, 17, as he ran out of a bedroom wardrobe he had been hiding in thinking the youngster was an intruder.”
“He called out a warning that he was armed and yelled for anyone in the house to come out.”
“Fulton heard nothing so burst into the bedroom, saw the teenager run out of the wardrobe and fired his gun.”
“Middleton was hit once in the chest as he attempted to run out of the room and fell to the ground.”
Young boy? He was an old boy, nearly an adult. Stupid teenagers, doing this to themselves and to their families.
It’s certainly sad, but if the facts reported here are true, I don’t see a crime here. Both teenagers acted foolishly and it cost one his life. This isn’t the first time teenagers didn’t stop and consider the possible consequences of their actions.
I have three teenage daughters, a big dog in the house, and firearms. I’m certain my daughters know better than to try to sneak a boy into our home at night, but I’m going to discuss this story with them anyway.
It was three in the morning. He was 17 she is14. Got what he deserved
Father sees an intruder.
14 year old daughter sees a chance to ride the c0ck carousel in order to ease her low self-esteem.
17 year old is living out some Penthouse Forum fantasy.
Posters that choose sides are living through whatever perspective they choose. Great post.
All the armchair lawyers are sure to flock here with their opinions on how this case should be handled. As for myself, I would like to hear some more pertinent facts as they are thin at the moment.
So where was the daughter? Why didn’t she tell her dad it was her boyfriend? ...wait, maybe she did.
I had a similar incident yrs ago.
My daughter’s boyfriend sneaked into her downstairs bedroom.
She was not home, guess he planned to wait for her.
I heard a noise downstairs, got my P35, sneaked downstairs. Pushed her door ajar, saw a motorcycle helmet on her bed. Knew immediately who it was.
When I pushed the door open he saw me standing there with a pistol he turned white (er).
He never tried that again.
