Pepsi says slumping sales from Philadelphias new sweetened-beverage tax are prompting layoffs of 80 to 100 workers at three distribution plants that serve the city.
The company sent out notices Wednesday saying layoffs will occur at plants in north and south Philadelphia and in Wilmington, Delaware, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
Dave DeCecco, spokesman for the Purchase, New York-based company that employs 423 people in the city, said the tax has cut sales by 40 percent there.

And cretin mayor Kenny claims the nasty softdrink industry is “holding workers’ jobs hostage” because they lay people off when their sales drop and they stop making enough money to meet payroll as is - the devolution of the ‘rat politician has come to this.....

The Liberty Bell isn’t the only thing “cracked” in Philadelphia.
I remember a time when there actually were some sane and intelligent Democrats leading the city (back in the 60’s but that didn’t last too long).
What we have today is a combination of leftist white Democrats and really ignorant black racist Democrats, aided by Hispanic know-nothings and a free crooks and reds thrown in for “diversity”.
