People 'Shaming' Ivanka Trump for ‘Hypocritical’ Dress She Wore To Trump’s Congressional Address
Elites Daily ^ | 4 hours ago | John Haltiwanger

It’s extremely sexist to judge a woman by what she wears, and it happens far too often — especially in the political world.

But, people are calling out Ivanka Trump for the dress she wore to her father’s address to Congress on February 28, and they actually have a point in this case.

Highlights from President Trump's first speech to Congress

Long story short: President Trump is frequently calling on people to “buy American and hire American,” but Ivanka was wearing a $2,995 dress from French designer Roland Mouret.

Screenshot of a tweet from Donald Trump. Twitter

In his speech, Trump said,

America has spent approximately $6 trillion dollars in the Middle East, all this while our infrastructure at home is crumbling. With this $6 trillion dollars we could have rebuilt our country — twice. And maybe even three times if we had people who had the ability to negotiate.

To launch our national rebuilding, I will be asking the Congress to approve legislation that produces a $1 trillion investment in the infrastructure of the United States — financed through both public and private capital — creating millions of new jobs.

This effort will be guided by two core principles: Buy American and hire American.

Meanwhile, his daughter was watching his speech while wearing a product from a French designer based in the United Kingdom.

Criticizing Ivanka for how she appears is just plain wrong, but pointing out this subtle example of hypocrisy is arguably fair game.

If the Trump family wants people to buy products in the US, it should set an example for the American people.

As one Twitter user put it,

Dad said buy American so Ivanka wore a French designer’s dress

Relatedly, many Trump products have been made overseas.

Ties, suits, dress shirts, eyeglasses and other accessories from the Donald J. Trump Collection, for example, were made in China, Bangladesh, Honduras, Vietnam and India.

Yes, China — Trump’s favorite place.

Perhaps the Trump family should practice what it preaches.

These are the same fashionistas who think pant suits are “haut couture”

Meh. I don’t care what she wears, as long as she doesn’t wear white shoes after labor day. Some rules are sacred.

For eight years I had to put up with the Elitist Bull Sh_____ telling me what a beauty Michelle was. I was told how stylish she was. She was ordinary at best and her style sucked. Ivanka is much more attractive than anyone in the Obama family.

What a load of nonsense. I am sure she doesn’t care about their opinions, nor should we. The Left finds everything wrong with life. They should all be exiled to an island of the perpetually offended.

I doubt that she actually BOUGHT the dress. Top designers give them to celebrities to wear at high-visibility events.

Leftist lies from the fried brains of the lying leftists:

Sexism = a beautiful, graceful woman who loves herself, her femininity, and others, and those who admire such

The truth:

Envy, Jealosy, and Hatred = those who hate beautiful, graceful women who love themselves, their femininity, and others, and those who admire such

I dislike the asymmetrical neckline with the black strap. The neckline without the strap would be cute but the strap reminds me of one of the trashy dancers at the end of “Dirty Dancing” with her bra straps showing.

Basically, it’s a pretty dress, and she’s a knock-out in that color. Maybe it was purchased long before DJT ran for President. Don’t these “people” shaming her have important things to worry about?

She probably had a nice, white, made in USA outfit ready to wear, and then found out she could not wear white to the event.

speaking of which, what’s the deal with Democrat women wearing white to the event, to evoke the memory of the suffragettes of a century ago?? The women’s vote movement is a done deal, and hardly anyone alive today remembers the suffragette movement. Why in the sam hill would Nancy Pelosi and other Democrat women make their stand on the issue of giving women the right to vote? What the heck am I missing with the symbolism?

And how good is the symbolism, when the liberals in the media had to constantly explain the symbolism, because with women having gotten the right to vote so long ago, nobody today understand the significance of wearing white? then again, women already have the right to vote, so why evoke memory of that in the first place???

Go through any woman’s closet. Probably not 1/10 of the items are Made in USA. That situation evolved over decades, and Trump is not going to reverse it overnight.

So did they expect Ivanka to show up naked?

Translation: Melania’s stunning black dress was made in America so let’s find something else to nitpick, maybe one of the children.

Women hate her. She is a mother of three who had her last baby 9 months ago. She is beautiful by almost any standard. Which is amazing standing next to her fathers wife. And she has wonderful taste. Her clothes are stylish yet simple and always perfect for her.

The same is true of Melania. She is a stately older women who carries her age beautifully. Between the two of them Trump is a very lucky man. They are smart and helpful without being in the way. By all reports they stand behind the President and pitch in whenever needed. And given their wealth and standing they are clearly doing it out of love for their father and the country. Just like him.

Trump’s only been president for a month... he hasn’t yet brought back manufacturing and all that stuff. Perhaps these critics should give him just a little more time.

From what I have been able to figure out, based on “women’s rights” propaganda I have been seeing on liberals’ blogs, etc., they are all (the men and women) in a state of hysteria, because they really believe that Trump will act in ways to “take rights away” from women. I don’t think the issue is the right to vote, but they apparently want to continue to receive free birth control (paid for by us) and to kill babies in the womb up until the moment of natural, live birth. They also seem to believe that Trump will do something to derail their “equal pay for equal work” theme, among other anticipated microaggressions that his administration will inflict on their lives.

They are apparently too blind to see that the road we were on was leading to endless and deepening debt, which will have to be shouldered by our children (those who work and pay taxes). And they seem to think we should promote diversity and help all people (including illegals), but cannot be convinced that a fetus is a person.

It truly astounds me that they have such dramatic and selective victimhood about the things they only THINK Trump will do “to them”, and NO acknowledgement of how his policies are going to impact their lives in positive ways.

JMHO

“Relatedly, many Trump products have been made overseas.”
The way the rules were set up, the only way to compete was to use over-seas factories. What are ya gonna do? Just give up and go out of business? Things are changing for the better finally!
