Not true. Conservatism was fractured long before Trump. In 2012 I used to argue at websites with Romney supporters because I didn’t find Mitt any good. Those Romney supporters thought they were “conservative.”

What had the “Conservative Movement” accomplished all of those years, other than being nothing more than a “debating society”?

The establishment whores in DC have completely bastardized the term “Conservatism” into meaning who has the biggest check from K-Street.

If we’d just support amnesty, bug government spending, and ObamaCare, conservatism would be alive and well! \s

Incredible as it may seem, “history” did stop. Today, in large part due to its own success, it is on its way back to coterie status.

I don't see how anyone can say that conservatism has been a "success" over the past 30 or 40 years. Government has continued to increase and expand, we have significant new entitlements. We have gay marriage. We have trangender rights. Abortion is alive and well. The Left has continued to march forward and conservatism, generally, has been losing.

He mentions Krauthammer. Just last week, apropos of nothing, Sour Kraut decided to make fun of the “syntax” of Sarah Palin. No, she hadn’t been on television recently - just a nasty shot at one of our most talented politicians who he, along with others left and right, were determined to destroy. Everyone thinks Sour Kraut is sooo brilliant - and yet he can’t avoid taking cheap shots at our side for no good reason.

And that is why establishment conservatives lost this election and why they secretly admire and love Clinton. They hate the middle class.

Have you heard that Bill O’Reilly is adding to his current book series. The new book will be titled, “ Killing Obama.”

All those thoughtful people never won an election or changed a policy

How nice they published books and small journals and showed up in PBS. Tell me what those “movement” conservatives ever did?

Besides the term movement conservative just brings to mind so many jokes....

President Trump’s agenda isn’t 100% conservative - we all knew that going in to the election.

But he will accomplish more of the conservatives’ stated goals than all the elected conservatives and republicans in Washington since Ronald Regan left office.

Most (but not all) Washington conservatives seem content to just spout conservative ideas as a way to get elected.

Because when they get to Washington they forget or ignore their campaign promises.

People don’t know what to make of President Trump because he is actually moving to keep his campaign promises.

The writer missed or ignores the critical point. The movement conservatives became globalists and pushed policies that were not in the best interests of most American citizens.

Then a dynamic candidate who wasn’t afraid to say that loudly came along.

I just read a quote by Marine Le Pen, which she stated:

“The divide is no longer between left and right but between patriots and globalists”.

IMO, that pretty well sums it up.

Corporate Country Club conservatives have as their goal reducing their taxes to safeguard their wealth. Christian conservatives have as their goal reducing government’s oppression of their faith and saving the souls of their children. These two have very little in common. The former hire K St. lobbyists to make favorable deals with government officials. The latter pray to God that He would bless and protect America from enemies, both foreign and domestic.
