I dont believe anyone should be expected to take care of another able bodied grown adult. The problem is that you then have to hire someone to take care of the house and someone to cook.
Unless you are planing to move into a motel and order pizza every night.
Unless you are talking someone with a $50,000 a year job in a low COLA area it is actually cheaper and less stressful to have one person stay at home to take care of all the things that are required for civilized life.

Most the 2 income families that I know do the cooking and cleaning etc themselves.

Split the housework 50/50. This is also part of pulling one's own weight.
