Somali native found beaten, possibly robbed, in Pittsburgh (Alleged Hate Crime)

PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh police are investigating the beating of a Somali immigrant who was critically injured and might have been robbed.

The man, believed to be about 30, was found beaten about 5 a.m. Tuesday in the city's Beltzhoover neighborhood.

A city police spokeswoman said it appears that he had also been robbed.

Betty Cruz, the director of Change Agency, said the victim is a member of Pittsburgh's Somali Bantu and Muslim communities.

Cruz and others are calling on police to investigate whether the beating was a hate crime. Police haven't discussed any motive beyond robbery.

The local Muslim organizations and other activists are trying hard to spin this as a "hate crime," but given the neighborhood it's more likely this is just an ordinary attack/robbery. But I'm sure the SPLC will put this on the list.

It’s just like the time when some doofus sprayed nasty graffiti on the door of a Mexican grocery.

The media and local Democrats stood-up and said “This place has a racism problem”.

So that’s called a hate crime but when one of them says “die infidel” and slices a human neck, it’s not called a hate crime.

Except we don't have "hate crimes" (or other "thought crimes") in the U.S... Not yet, anyway. We have assault crimes, and somehow mysteriously divining what a perpetrator is "thinking" at the time has no bearing on the end result of their actions.

According to Wikipedia:

The neighborhood lies in the 18th ward and is predominantly an African American neighborhood.

So, the "hate crime" angle seems unlikely.

But the media has already planted in the minds of the people that it’s another hate crime.

And then they go on about how *hate crimes* have increased by making unsubstantiated claims in the first place.

And never retract the story later and admit their wrong. even if they did, the thought was still initially planted setting up the mind set that hate crimes are increasing.
