"Why does he need a visa? I am British born and travelled to Florida without one (ESTA, visa waiver). To my knowledge the only British people who need a visa are those who have been arrested and/or convicted of crimes."
The next comment:
"Interestingly the BBC story states that his name is Mohammed Miah but that he also goes by Juhel. This much you can count on, if the name on your visa waiver doesn't match your passport; you are not boarding the flight until it is sorted out. As a one time world traveler, I know there is a learning curve to travel bookings and errors that result in interruptions & delays are usually of one's own making. I would be surprised if he doesn't, in fact know why he was deplaned and is perhaps nonplussed that the reason resulted in such an action but things are different after 9-11."
I’m guessing that they did a background check and found something. They are even checking social media activity these days. They knew he was a muslim when he was allowed to board the plane.
I agree with both you and the commenters. Something is being left out of the story to make the teacher into a sympathetic figure. It sounded fishy and not worth mentioning when I first read it a couple of days ago. I only posted it so the admins wouldn’t think the original poster (the one who got his thread pulled) was just posting fake news.

Offers reasons why he might need a visa, and that, in turn, points to some possible reasons he could have been denied boarding.
Or it’s just that Trump hates the Welsh.
