I grew up in NY and I still have family there.

The people who live there are terrified of guns, masculinity, things that go bang, and doing without.

NY would surrender in less than a week.

I’m not gonna read this, but how in blazes do they say that NY is self-sufficient?

Rural NY would likely not be able to grow enough food for the gargantuan population of NYC—particularly staples like wheat. Plus they don’t like NYC anyway there. If NYC spilled out of the city and seized control of the rural areas, wouldn’t they face resistance, and wouldn’t that kill productivity for a season at the very least? Maybe he’s assuming that NYC could trade by ship with other nations?

California - self-sufficient, will to fight? Perhaps in the rural areas, but they'll be engaged in civil war with the coastal regions.

Texas - I'll admit my bias, but it's a bad move to "mess with Texas". Self-sufficient, plenty of natural resources, our own electric grid, unmatched will to fight, multiple military bases throughout the state.

New York - similar to CA.

Since we went to war in Iraq and Afghanistan over New York City, I would imagine that all the states would in the end get together and protect all 50 states.

Hard to believe California and Washington are at/near the top. By the time we got the environmental permits to run the tanks off the roads we would be overrun already.
