Hi, I'm looking at selecting a new phone plan, and I'm wondering if any Freepers know about any good plans.
I'm open to Android or iPhone, and hoping for a no-contract.
Any recommendations?
I have the T-Mobile plan. I use Skype to make phone calls as data used is 1 to 3mb per minute. As you get 5gb of data a month that works out to as much as 5000 minutes. I use the 100 min phone calls only if I am in a bad signal area for Skype.
Skype cost for a year is cheap. I pay the $2.99/month and pay for a whole year and save 15% off of that. Skype icon on your phone. Tap it to add your numbers and make calls just like your phone app.
T-Mobile $30 plan link. 5gb data, 100min phone, unlimited text.

Skype

Skype to Skype calls are free but to call a mobile or landline from Skype, you need a little Skype Credit or a subscription.
Prices: $2.99, $6.99, $13.99

You will get what you want.............
That’s the one I saw on TV that had a $30 per month plan.
Ditto
Trac Phone I pay 200 a year for a tosser
10 gigs for 55 is good
My fam and biz is around 15 lines
60 gigs for about 11 of us
30 gig supplemental for the four chronic data hogs
I pay around 700-900 for all that and auto cutoff is they run over data
I have had 1000 dollar data overruns on vacations out west...whew
Data for biz plans like mine used to be gratis
Bastardz
I bet past 7 years I’ve spent 20,000-25,000 in overruns
A decent used 3/4 ton pick up
So is tracfone
Tracfone uses Verizon, ATT or TMobile (not sure if they use Sprint) depending on zip code and/or type of phone (smart or feature phone). I spent several hours arguing with because they insisted we get a new phone but the original phone used ATT and the replacement used TMobile (whose coverage was horrible in our area). Finally squeezed an ATT sim out of them. At the time (and probably still) they preferred TMobile because it was cheaper for them.
Unlimited talk (US)
Unlimited texting (US)
Unlimited Data 5GB of 4G LTE (when high speed data limit reached, it drops down to 2G)
Works great for me 👍🏼
Correction..1GB 3G of HSD then drops down to 2G. Still works great for me👍🏼
Best Buy sells the $1 SIM cards for TracFone that are used in their Bring Your Own Phone (BYOP) program. This requires an unlocked phone that you supply and that you will use with TracFone services. However, late last year, Tracfone had a Huawei Glory phone on sale for $10 which, with a TracFone 60 minute airtime card would give you triple minutes, texts and data that never expire as long as you own that specific phone.
If you go to the TracFone site, you can plug in your zip and see what’s available in terms of the phones they sell and their deals. IF the $42 phone you already have is unlocked (I don’t know how you tell if it’s locked or unlocked. I had to be sold an unlocked phone at Amazon) you might be able to use it in their BYOP program with one of their SIM cards. These can be used with several carriers (ATT, Verizon, Sprint, etc.) Like you, I’m not a big phone user, realized I was spending much too much on a $20/month plan a decade or so ago and went to Tracfone and have been with them since. The best thing to do is visit their site. Be forewarned that their support is in both India and the Philippines so communication can sometimes be a problem.
Cricket is $30 a month, no plan. You just pay monthly. They also provide the phone at no charge. If another Cricket customer recommends you, you both get a $25 credit.
Thank You.
