First it was Deflategate and now Tom Brady is enmeshed in Jerseygate and a Texas official has the states storied Rangers hot on the trail.
The football jersey Tom Brady wore while leading his New England Patriots to a historic Super Bowl win was still missing on Monday and perhaps stolen right out of his locker, the quarterback said.
Brady told reporters he last saw his game-used threads in the New England dressing room Sunday night in Houston, following the Patriots stunning 34-28 overtime win.
The jersey, I put it in my bag and I came out and it wasnt there anymore, Brady told reporters on Monday at a press conference for the Super Bowl LI MVP.
Its unfortunate because thats a nice piece of memorabilia. If it ends up on eBay, let me know.
The theft grabbed attention of Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, who on Monday called on the Texas Rangers to help Houston police investigate.
In Texas we place a very high value on hospitality and football, Patrick said in a statement.
Tom Bradys jersey has great historical value and is already being called the most valuable NFL collectable ever. It will likely go into the Hall of Fame one day. It is important that history does not record that it was stolen in Texas.
He urged the perp to give back Bradys threads.
Im a Texans and Cowboys fan first, but the unquestionable success of the Super Bowl in Houston last night was a big win for our entire state, and I dont want anything to mar that victory, Patrick added. Whoever took this jersey should turn it in. The Texas Rangers are on the trail.

Are there no security cameras in there?..........................
Well good, I had not heard that. He was certainly upset about it. Someone said he wanted it for his mom
If true, that would be the stupidest person on the face of the earth...................
Texas Rangers? Buddy Bell? Jeff Burroughs? Bump Wells? Nolan Ryan?
Seemed pretty crazy but it sure did have the look of an NFL jersey used in a game, though ofc someone could have bought a jersey and then scuffed & dirtied it up.
Besides team associated personnel who else was in there? Oh that’s right...THE MEDIA.
And why would they call a baseball team to look for a football jersey.
Yes, even a hoaxer can be stupid................
Now, if the jersey had the “Superbowl LI” logo on it it might just be the real thing!..................
Photos of the jersey will begin to appear at famous landmarks around the country. Kidnappers will be demanding ransom.
Because they would know all about smelly jerseys..................
oh true, good point, well I didn’t look at it closely so I have no idea....
I’ll bet Brady wasn’t the only one to lose his shirt over that game.
That would tell if it is the real thing. There are no other jerseys made with those logos.....................
No tickee no washee!................
BTW - all of those programs are out of copyright and can be downloaded as .mp3 files for your enjoyment!
Have a FReepin’ great day!
I just found it again on Twitter and the view is from the back (SuperBowl logo is on the front) so you can’t tell just from that photo, unless there are other (subtler) differences in the SB51 jerseys. But people are posting that the photo is a hoax, so someone is probably just joking around.
I was kidding, who knows where that sweaty jersey is..........I suspect it's still in the clubhouse and in the washing machine.
With that being said, if it was indeed stolen and ends up on Ebay, a DNA test on the sweat can determine its authenticity..
So to whoever stole it: FOR GOSH SAKES, DON'T WASH IT!
