FReeper fave Blazing Saddles is airing tonight on Turner Classic Movies at 10:30 p.m. EST.
This FR thread from 2015 posited that Blazing Saddles could not be made today due to political correctness.
Fortunately in 1974 Mel Brooks, Richard Pryor, Gene Wilder, Cleavon Little, Madeline Kahn, Harvey Korman, Slim Pickens, Alex Karras, et al, were still free to make this comedy classic.
The showing of Blazing Saddles is part of TCM's 31 Days of Oscar A to Z which started Wednesday.
TCM airs films unedited, so all the jokes should be heard/seen.
Ditto. Ditto, you provincial putz!
What in the wide wide world of sports is goin on here. I hired you people to get a little track laid, not to jump around like a bunch of Kansas City faggots.
Gentlemen, we have to protect our phony baloney jobs!
I didn’t get a HARUMPH out of that guy!
Weird to think that Mel is the only major character that’s still alive
LOL, we’ve both seen this film too often!

Probably the funniest movie ever made!

Somebody better go back and get a shitload of dimes!
That’s Hedley!
In the Oct. ‘75 issue of Playboy Mel Brooks was interviewed about his career and especially this movie. Taking what this man says with a large grain of salt, Brooks claimed that he had to cut a scene;
Brooks: Yes. A scene between Cleavon Little, the black sheriff, and Madeline Kahn. The scene takes place in the dark. Is it twue vot zey say, Madeline asks him seductively, about how you people are built? Then you hear a zipper. Then you hear her say, Oh! Its twue! Its twue! Its twue! That much is in the picture. But then comes the line we cut. Cleavon says, Excuse me, maam. I hate to disillusion you, but youre sucking my arm.
Impossible.
What are you worried about, this is 1874, you can sue her.
This is 2017, you could try suing her estate.
I would tape the damn thing, but the machine keeps blinking 12:00 PM/AM!
I have never seen this movie nor do I intend to tonight. I am simply not into comedic movies, period.
“They’ve hit Bunny! Come on girls!”
They say there is one in every crowd :-)
Probably, but it’s still funny every time I see it.
