Already Vilified By Fans of 31 NFL teams, Tom Brady Now Target Of Anti-Trump Efforts

What’s a Super Bowl without controversy?

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots are in Houston for their record-setting ninth appearance in Sunday’s NFL championship game, but the biggest questions the future Hall-of-Famer faces this week have nothing to do with the Atlanta Falcons secondary, his receiving corps or coach Bill Belichick’s game plan.

Instead, football’s best player has become the focus of a political debate between those, including many in the sports world, who insist the quarterback must explain — or even “disavow” — his friendship with President Trump, and others who contend Brady is as entitled to a political viewpoint as Colin Kaepernick, the San Francisco quarterback who spent the season protesting police brutality by taking a knee during the national anthem.

“Can we pls stop politicizing everything? (We came to the sports pgs to escape a politics-centric view of everything),” Nebraska Republican Sen. Ben Sasse tweeted Tuesday while linking to a USA Today sports column headlined. “Tom Brady has some explaining to do on Donald Trump.”

In the column, USA Today’s Nancy Armour writes that the 39-year-old Brady has forfeited the right to deflect questions about his relationship with the new president, especially in light of the president’s executive action Friday tightening travel restrictons from seven majority-Muslim countries to the United States.

“Tom Brady no longer gets a pass on his friendship with Donald Trump. Not after this weekend, when the country boiled over in rage and indignation at Trump’s decision to turn America’s back on refugees,” she wrote.

Yes, you’re right. That would be even more enjoyable. Brady could say to the president directly that he thinks he’s doing a great job. Imagine all the lefties blowing their tops over that? The folks in Washington State would think Mt St. Helens was erupting again. LOL

The corporate heads that are the NFL always come up with something to hype the game. This Brady likes Trump is a brilliant idea for a back story.

It's professional wrestling hype times a thousand.

Maybe the rope will break that supports her and the world will be a better place just as soon as they scrape her sorry a$$ of the turf. I’ll watch the game and pull for Brady but will ignore the halftime and it’s politics.

A year ago I’d said there is no chance of me being a Tom Brady fan. Being from Indiana I’m sure you can imagine why. Fast forward to today and we’ll, I stand corrected. Go Brady go!

Ok, I think I can beat you all in crazy. I and my wife are hosting a Super Bowl party in Boston. I'm pulling for the Pats because of Brady, Belichick, and Kraft (all Trump guys). But I'm also boycotting the NFL and haven't watched a game this year. So I won't watch the game but will be sitting with a Sam Adams and chips looking at my phone.

The rest of my boycott life:

I also shredded my Starbucks cards.

Have not bought one Pepsi product since 11/08/2016.

I've not gone to one movie since 11/2016 (and I'm a cinephile and used to go to at least one per week). Plus, if I don't go my wife doesn't go (boycotting for two).

I'm also boycotting Amazon and deleted my account and all my digital books (~250) and Audible books (~30) and threw away my Kindle paperwhite. When I boycott something it's all or nothing.

As a long time Denver Broncos season ticket holder I have no great love for the Patriots. This weekend I'll be watching the SB in Las Vegas at the Trump Int’l Hotel. As an AFC guy I'll be backing the Patriots, what makes it even easier is the fact Brady & Belichick are Trump supporters. Deflategate is in my rear view mirror now ... Brady is my guy!
