He called me — us — haters because we didn’t like him changing his content for Chuck U Schumer.
He is not who I thought he was. It was sad to find that out. It made
me realize that it wasn’t oversight that he never in 8 years mentioned that Obama couldn’t pass E- verify, had a fake BC, and a very strange selective service document. He was serving some other master. Not his loyal audience who prayed for him through thick and thin.

I think he's what's called controlled opposition. Put in place to give we conservatives a place to go and then used to direct us subtly down non-productive paths.
Remember the primaries in 2008 when McCain was running way back in a large pack that contained several decent conservative? Rush NEVER came out with support for one candidate and instead allowed the melee to continue until the GOPe funneled all their support and numbers to McCain - leaving no single conservative candidate with a larger number of supporters because they were spread across such a large field.
Rush could have said, "Hey, it's time to thin the field and get behind one of these conservative candidates or this GOPe hack (McCain) is going to win this thing" but he didn't do that and we ended up with McCain handing the election to Obama.
To use a football analogy like Rush so much loves to employ, he's our quarterback out their leading our team on the field but his job is not to move the ball down the field, his job is to introduce just enough confusion to keep us from ever getting the ball over the goal line and if you ask me, he's been very good at his job.
