I was being blunt for a purpose. I am deeply grateful to Jim and all he has done. I have actually been on FB since 95 I believe. The conversation has to happen. I am in no way looking to take any control in any way from Jim. What I want to point out is this group has been HIGHLY effective politically for over 20 years. The enemies of this Free republic (this site and our country) are organized, hostile and well funded. We need to talk about upping our own infrastructure to prevent down time during important events. I am betting 99% of us thought it was deliberate. ( I still dont know ) I know I got up at 4 am and it was down. Not likely that it was due to traffic that early east coast time. So if we need to assist to take it to a new level I want to have that conversation on the table. Please Jim do not take my words as an attack.
I didn’t think it was a deliberate attack. I simply thought the server got overloaded. Gee, it was really no big deal to me.
I’d just like a site where I could go to get some idea of what happened. Was it a mechanical problem or a hack? I just wasn’t sure whether something had gone haywire at my end or if the problem was out in California. Any of my other bookmarked sites I wouldn’t miss or be as interested to know about.
Maybe Drudge could put a one-liner in if someone told them about a FR outage...

With all due respect, when you title a thread with words like “pissed,” being blunt for whatever purpose, IMHO it is not a particularly positive or effective way to start off a thread. Perhaps better choices might have been “disappointed,” “devastated” or “going through withdrawl” (all accurate adjectives of the feelings of many of us ;)
Regarding Facebook, Many of us went to Facebook to find out the scoop. It was a good source for updates. I just lurked FB FR page; did not join as I figure they had enough to contend with. There were updates and news articles posted there—Thanks to all who did.
BTW, Facebook launched on February 4, 2004, and was limited to a small number of colleges/universities; that number grew over time. I believe it was invite only for a short period, and then in 2006 it became open to anyone over 13.
