Like spicy food? If so, you might live longer, say researchers at the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont,
who found that consumption of hot red chili peppers is associated with a 13 percent reduction in total mortality
- primarily in deaths due to heart disease or strokein a large prospective study.
Going back for centuries, peppers and spices have been thought to be beneficial in the treatment of diseases, but only one other studyconducted in China and published in 2015
- has previously examined chili pepper consumption and its association with mortality.
This new study corroborates the earlier study's findings
Data collected from more than 16,000 Americans who were followed for up to 23 years, medical student Mustafa Chopan '17 and Professor of Medicine Benjamin Littenberg, M.D.,
examined the baseline characteristics of the participants according to hot red chili pepper consumption.
They found that consumers of hot red chili peppers tended to be "younger, male, white, Mexican-American, married, and to smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol,
and consume more vegetables and meats . . . had lower HDL-cholesterol, lower income, and less education," in comparison to participants who did not consume red chili peppers.
They examined data from a median follow-up of 18.9 years and observed the number of deaths and then analyzed specific causes of death.

I know where that’s going LOL.
Been there ,..done that !
Hot going in ,.. and hot coming out!
Yup, it's a learning experience, and you only need that one lesson !
Grew up with some hot peppers as a kid, but as I get older, they don't agree with me now !
No, they are not tasty! I hate them because they make my mouth feel as if it’s on fire. And nothing makes it go away. I think it must be a genetic thing.
I like sprinkling that stuff on my pizza, burgers, burritos, and other health foods.
Tried it with Ghost peppers and it was a bit much. Too much heat, could not taste much after a few bites, but ate it all anyway.
Oh yeah, love to add a ton diced up to my cornbread and beer bread.
So far the pills seem to have a slight effect for the better.
A couple of times I forgot to take with food and I felt it, mostly a tiny bit of nausea.
Jalapenos have different heats. Next time you’re buying them get the ones with the black dots and make sure they’re firm.
Never had a problem handing hot peppers without gloves. Even the habaneros, which I will have occasionally.
I grow those this last year and have some on order for next. They are Good, if your into Real Hot peppers as I am. Its all I can do to eat one with a good set of fresh home made nachos... But boy are they Good!
God Bless
I have lost my taste buds as I cannot eat any meal without a handful of chilis. I once liked jalapenos, now I prefer
Thai chilis, hotter than jalapenos but not too hot to destroy the meal.

I use to do the same until this last year, after cutting up about three butter bowls of Ed’s Carolina Reapers I could feel it tingling my hands. And of course you cant touch anything for about 4 hand washes and about 6 hours or you might feel a bit of a burn... (such as your eye, lips, or your wife’s eye... Not a good idea...)
God Bless
Man, I love those Thai chilies too, just about perfect in the heat department.
Same thing here... We are taking capsules daily.
Mrs. Dacula has grown found of peppers wince she was diagnosis with cancer. Makes since now.
Food cravings are something to listen to.
Yes Thai are very good. I Love cayenne for flavor and I’ve had some pretty hot ones, chocolate Habanero is very good fairly hot but also has a very odd taste, different. We grew the White and Golden Bullet Habaneros a couple years ago and they are a small fairly hot pepper but boy do the plants produce! and the other pretty extreme hot ones are the Ghost peppers and I have done a couple variations of those.
I can say I grow more than we can eat fresh or preserve so we also dry them out and powderize them and that is some awesome stuff! Great on Pizza and Top Roman soup along with just plan everyday cooking or spicing up a marinating steak.
God Bless
Sorry I meant to copy you in on the post also...
