There are some possible explanations for red chili peppers' health benefits, state Chopan and Littenberg in the study.
Among them are the fact that capsaicin - the principal component in chili peppers - is believed to play a role in cellular and molecular mechanisms that prevent obesity and modulate coronary blood flow,
and also possesses antimicrobial properties that "may indirectly affect the host by altering the gut microbiota."

Turmeric and curcumin do that as well, and also help regulate blood sugar and insulin.
Plus they are antibiotic, anti-parasitical, and anti-cancer.

Its also an antiinflammatory. I take it daily and really like it. For me it works like a half an ibuprofen.

I developed a taste for hot peppers years ago (I had to really work at it) but now I crave hot spicy food. I really do feel better after eating them. One of my favorite side dishes is whole jalapeños sautéed in olive oil with garlic cloves and mushrooms. Cook them until the outside of the peppers are blackened and then I slice them up. Eat them seeds and all. Only part I discard are the stems.

How about a simple reason. They are potent anti-inflammatory foods.

Jan 20, 2016 - Lamphere explains, “Turmeric, oregano, rosemary, ginger and green tea contain bioflavonoids and polyphenols that reduce inflammation and limit free radical production.” She adds, “Some of the most potent anti-inflammatory vegetables are peppers and the spices derived from them, such as cayenne pepper.
