An observant mother learns pretty fast that even so-called "quality daycare" is bad for her child.
I know that will offend some people, but it's true. It's also true that most families do not genuinely "need" the mother's income to survive, as is so often claimed. For many, the cost of daycare + clothing and transportation costs for the mother's career eats up much of that second income.
I made some mistakes early on, believing what our popular culture told us, i.e. that putting your kids in daycare was harmless ... even good for your child! I learned the hard way. The truth is, staying home and raising your own children is worth any sacrifice.

The trouble comes when all these women have kids without getting married so they have to work.
At least theoretically, in a divorce, the husband has to pay child care and alimony. (My layers cousin is paying a fortune).
Without a man’s income at all, it’s a very bad situation to be in. But those are the choices that people made.
