Pit bulls strip arms and legs off their victims, they rip faces off or detatch jaws. These are the butchers of the dog world - they dismantle people. Domesticated dogs tend to bite and release in fear or aggression. PIt bulls tend to bite, hold, and thrash to detach flesh. THere’s flat out no comparison between pits and suitably domesticated household pets. Pits kill more often and maim more often compared with every other type of dog.

"Seems" is the operative word in your post. Don't ever let your guard down around her. Pits can flip like a light switch.
.22 seems a might light for the task you're contemplating, if you ask me. I'd go 9mm at minimum for that.

An unleashed black labrador retreiver attacked my leashed American bulldog while we were walking in the street. Only a couple puncture wounds but it was going for his throat.
I told the owner I would shoot it if it came near us again. Anyone who shoots my dog had better shoot me too.
Labrador retriever. I had a chocolate lab and he was a sweetheart.
I think that afghan hounds are the dumbest dog breed on earth. We knew a breeder once, even she said they were lacking in the smarts department. Groomed for show they are pretty though.
Very light indeed. All the more reason for lots of practice. But, a rim fire pistol ends up almost silent. But, of course, any subsonic round that will still operate the recoil mechanism is gonna do the job.

That is a pretty dog. We have Cavaliers, who are smart they just pretend to be dumb. LOL
