In April of this past year I predicted to my colleagues where I was teaching Middle School that the summer would be known for two things: Riots and Terrorism. Bingo. They were pretty freaked out when we met again for the opening of school this past fall.

I predict that 2017 will be worse for the latter and maybe about the same for the former, depending on Trump's Law & Order edict effectiveness.

My dear wife got me a pair of books by Mark Greaney who was one of Tom Clancy's co-authors for many of his books. This guy has continued with the Jack Ryan series of books and I'm reading the first new one right now: True Faith and Allegiance That quite frankly and for the very first time I can remember, scares me.

Because all this stuff is eminently DOABLE. Picture multiple ISIS organized and supervised terrorist attacks on home soil and none of the "Tango's" are on any watch lists. None have records of Jihad involvement from anywhere (especially social media) and all of the multiple cell members have false identities that are "backstopped." Meaning it would take a serious effort to break their covers.

Moreover, this is the first novel in which I have seen the stuff I learned concerning Open Source Intelligence gathering and analysis for my Master's Degree in Homeland Security put on full display and in a format that anybody can understand. I have textbooks that weigh in at a total of about ten pounds on this subject alone. My Counter Terrorism texts are much heavier in aggregate.

My serious recommendation is to read this book! Because I think there is a serious possibility that it's a preview of "coming attractions." I hope we have a good supply of good guy versions of "John Wick" waiting in the wings for these guys. Because they ARE coming. IMHO (.02). YMMV.

with the democrats promising to throw as many monkey wrenches into Trump’s cabinet approvals as possible, the one thing that comes to my mind is what happened the last time they did that - we had 9/11 and bush was handicapped by an unprepared administrative group because the dems drew the process out so long, which left us vulnerable.
