I saw this earlier. Steve Martin’s tribute was kind, sensitive, and honest. Of course he saw her physical beauty first! What man wouldn’t? Feminists are crazy.
??? Why should he apologize for that?! Come ON.
He didn’t even say he had the hots. He said he thought she was beautiful. And later found other attractive things about her.
Only in the PC-amok world of today would any of that be considered insulting.
Men........please do not compliment women.
Had Steve just switched the order of the two sentences he’d have probably been ok. He failed to take into account that there’s lots of people out there who wake up looking for something to be ticked off about.
Sheesh, the poor guy can’t even speak a kind thought from his heart without having mobs of idiots descend on him.
Talk about getting old and slow. Come on, Steve. The proper response would have been “Well EXCUUUUUSSE ME!”
It is a glowing tribute.
There is wrong with the kooks who complained.
Looks like he is learning about liberal tolerance firsthand.
It’s not like he said she had dog poop on her shoes.
Agreed. When you meet a beautiful woman the first thing you notice is......her beauty.
That she’s smart, witty, all the other observations, come with time.
OH PLEASE - why does her death have to turn into a man-bashing episode? His statement was TOTALLY HARMLESS.
Seriously. The woman could melt titanium.
Only a gay guy wouldn’t notice.
Exactly. Steve was just listing her attributes as they came to him. She was a movie star. We all know there are a lot of stupid movie stars. He saw her first. Secondly he read her book. Then he met her.
Some people like to find fault with everything.
Screw them. However, Martin must have a thing for pre-pubescent frumps. Princess Layla was no beauty.
People who find fault, who look for insults will find fault or be insulted by, “good morning.” Never look for an opportunity to say unkind words and try to be pleasant and gracious. If somebody is insulted, don’t give a damn. Do what you are going to do. Say what you want to say. Know that if your conscious is clear that the problem is with the observer, not you.
