I’m a suffering Rams fan. While Jeff Fisher had a few good years, overall he hasn’t been anything special. We gave him enough time to tie the record for most losses. It will not be hard to find an upgrade. (although I do agree with your general point that Def Coordinators can be fine, just ned the rigth one)

When you look at records for most losses in any sport, you'll usually find that the record holders are actually among the best at the position. Look at the all-time leaders among baseball pitchers in losses, or among hockey goaltenders. You'll find a lot of Hall of Famers at the top of these lists.

There's a simple reason for this: In order to set a record like that you have to be good enough to hang around for a long time.

In Fisher's case, I suspect he's lost a lot of games just because he's usually been coaching teams that aren't very talented. I would just ask how many really disappointing seasons he has had, where he was coaching a very talented team but failed to have them play up to their high expectations.
