Physicists reveal sensational findings which could allow science fiction dreams to become reality
Professor Howard Wiseman and Dr Michael Hall, from Griffith Universitys Centre for Quantum Dynamics, claim that the idea of parallel universes is more than just science fiction.
Fellow researcher Dr Dirk-Andre Deckert, from the University of California, helped further the researchers theory, which goes against almost all conventional understanding of space and time.
If there really are multiple, interacting universes, then it would be possible for time travellers to visit Earth, and every imaginable scenario would be played out in a parallel universe at some point.
The teams Many Interacting Worlds Theory provides a whole new perspective on the ideas underpinning quantum theory, a notoriously complex strand of physics.
Professor Wiseman said: The idea of parallel universes in quantum mechanics has been around since 1957.
In the well-known Many-Worlds Interpretation, each universe branches into a bunch of new universes every time a quantum measurement is made.
All possibilities are therefore realised in some universes the dinosaur-killing asteroid missed Earth. In others, Australia was colonised by the Portuguese.
But critics question the reality of these other universes, since they do not influence our universe at all.
On this score, our Many Interacting Worlds approach is completely different, as its name implies.
According to the theory, our universe is just one of many enormous worlds, with some identical to our reality and others completely different.
The Express reports that the worlds are all real, and all on the same timeline, but interact when they essentially bump into each other.
Dr Hall believes that the groups sensational theory fits with current scientific understanding, offering a new perspective rather than rewriting the physics rule book completely.
He said: The beauty of our approach is that if there is just one world our theory reduces to Newtonian mechanics, while if there is a gigantic number of worlds it reproduces quantum mechanics.
In between it predicts something new that is neither Newtons theory nor quantum theory.
We also believe that, in providing a new mental picture of quantum effects, it will be useful in planning experiments to test and exploit quantum phenomena.
A real time machine is also effectively a faster than light spaceship. Figure that once you were in space, away from major gravitational masses, if you go either into the past or the future, you move independently of the rotation of the Earth, the orbit of Earth, the movement of the solar system relative to the galaxy, as well as the movement of the galaxy itself.
Even a few milliseconds of times might mean hundreds of miles of travel.
...when you get back, tell us who wins the Superbowl...
Why a duck?
I'm currently trying to find a way to that other universe where the Colts beat the Raiders and kept their playoff hopes alive. They're now out of it in this universe.
You’ve never heard of the paradux paradox?

The parallel dimensions might explain ghosts and visions of other times. Their might be natural time travel that need not use Deloreans or Time Tunnels. Their might be many thousands of dimensions —in One Hillary won the election, in another Hitler won WW II (what sort of world would he have made?) One theory holds that Out of Body Trips are only going to a close by dimension. BUT your time trip would not effect your timeline—when you got home nothing would have changed.
Didn't study physics so I don't understand the connection from state of energy to entropy." Again sounds like sSheldon of The Big Bang Theory TV series doing his math on a white board.
"To "go back in time" would mean to be able to create energy from chaos, to unburn the steak, unpop a balloon, and unring a bell. It's ludicrous to even contemplate. Let alone all this hokum about multiple universes ...
First, I've always heard that mass and energy can not be created nor destroyed. It will take different forms, but always exist. Another flawed science principle?
Secondly, I've already stipulated my belief that time is a human construct. Yes, the Big Bang theory uses reverse the doppler shift to go back far enough to some 14 billion years to the Singularity. Where's the proof that time is nothing other than a start and a real force?
Lastly, where is any PROOF of multiple universes other than on their white boards? Yes, I know that's where "dark matter" advocates try to prove such and claim their is some over 98% of matter missing in our known universe. Okay. Where are those atoms? Mass can now definitely be detected. Are their calculations wrong? Interesting that "string theory" hit a dead end. Theories often do in the light of day.
My biggest problem with the big brain physicists is even their best minds can't figure out the Singularity. I don't think they ever will. I believe what's behind the Universe is actually beyond our human comprehension. That goes back to a divine or other entity.
You can’t change the events. You can only change your own personal reaction to those events if you happen to be fortunate enough to have the memory of those events.
I don’t know about being able to step backwards, but I have reasons to believe that stepping forward is possible so that when you step backward, you come to your present reality. Haven’t an IOTA as to what controls it.
No drugs. Meditation and prayer.
Just how would visiting parallel dimensions “visiting the past?” If you are going to the past you have to go within your own “dimension” or it is not the past.
If it is to be “parallel dimensions” then you wouldn’t be shooting your wife at all, but someone else who is living a very similar, perhaps identical life with that of your wife. And if you go back into that other person’s past, when you “return” it is to yet another dimension .Basically, you can’t get there from her.
So how does that beacon (if physical) get placed in that time and space for them to do the computations from its feed back? Did he explain that? Or is it some parallel super-physics that can traverse through time and space and they get fed back faster than the speed of light? It's all gobbly-gook.
While I love science and these brilliant people, they come up with their theories to expand on other theories and then try to prove it through math. They'll never know. Like I said, what happened to "string theory"?
Perhaps because they would have had a common point in time prior to splitting off on their own separate paths?
“Why havent we been visited by an infinite number of travelers from all the universes that have mastered this?”
A good question. “Life forms” totally alien to us may not show themselves in a manner we as humans are capable of sensing. With this being said, it is quite likely we have been visited by creatures from another dimension/universe.
It is also likely animals with certain senses that are either superior to human or that have senses we are not aware of, have actually encountered such travelers.
It is also likely as humans with limited senses and technology, that there is a parallel dimension and we are simply not aware of it. While we are not aware of it, creatures in that dimension could very likely be aware of us all the time. Just because such creatures may exist, does not mean they have to make themselves presentable to us in a manner we can detect.
Yeah, that still leaves me with the shooting option.
Have you noticed that Donald Trumps hair, and even his slightly orange complexion, aren't exactly normal?
