Canadian comic and entertainer Gordie Tapp, best known as the country bumpkin Cousin Clem on Hee Haw, has died. He was 94.
Tapp died Sunday in Burlington, Ontario, after a long illness, the CBC confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter. He was born in 1922 in London, Ontario, and got his start in TV at the Canadian public broadcaster during the 1950s.
Tapp conceived the hayseed Cousin Clem character while hosting Country Hoedown between 1956 and 1965. Success with the Canadian network for 13 years encouraged Tapp to take his Cousin Clem character to Nashville, where he eventually went on to star in 90 of the 306 episodes on CBS' comedy/variety show Hee Haw, between 1969 and 1988.

In my video collection, I have "Hee Haw" guest appearances of Charly McClain, John Anderson, Ricky Skaggs, Alan Jackson, George Strait, Lorrie Morgan, and a few others. The girls on that show were also not bad to look at, eh, lol?
Hee Haw.....Lisa Todd...WOW!
I definitely remember it, but from the 1970s.
He-he-he-haw-haw-haw!
....some of the most beautiful women ever.....
Thank you....which reminds me... blood pressure pill.....blood pressure pill....blood pressure pill
“I searched the world over ‘til I thought I found true love,”
“You met another and PBBBBLT! you were gone.”
End of an era. Will be missed.
It was on RFDTV not too long ago, maybe still is.
LaVern and Ida Lee Nagger, (The Naggers, a sketch featuring Gordie Tapp and Roni Stoneman), was some funny stuff.
Thanks for the laughs, Gordie. See you on the other side.
RIP
Don Harron and now Gordie Tapp are gone. Hee Has was definitely not high brow but was both fun and wholesome. Comfortable like that favorite bath robe. The show has become part of Americana, yet Canadians played major roles. Rest in peace Cousin Clem.
His clips with Archie Campbell on "Where, oh where are you tonight?" were one of the best running gags on the show.
I watched it when it had Buck Owens, not Ricky Skaggs.
Gordie in the famous “gloom, despair, and agony on me” segment:

Oh my, that brings back memories. I always liked Misty Rowe and Lisa Todd and Diana Goodman were also nice to look at as well.
Redneck Laugh-In.
CC
I meant to say Ricky Skaggs as a guest performer on the program (I have a 1982 episode with him doing “You’ve Got a Lover”). Of course, Buck was the co-host (along with Roy Clark) for all of those years.
How it all began—opening of the first Hee Haw show, aired June 15,1969:
